IT was late one night when Gemma got a weird feeling in her chest. She paced the Swan residence plenty of times, going up and down the stairs again and again. She wasn't sure where Charlie was, probably a late night shift or doing paperwork as he'd gotten a call after being at Billy's all day. So that left her alone to her own devices; going from room to room, then to the TV. But she was definitely bored wishing somebody was home for her to bother. Josh was out visiting his cousin in Seattle and Maya was spending time with family. And then Bella, supposedly, spent last night with Alice Cullen, though she hardly doubts that was the truth Alice spilled to Charlie.
The thing was, Gemma knew Bella snuck Edward in every night... how Charlie hadn't caught on yet was beyond her. So Gemma waited until Bella caught her sneaking out once to use it against her. It was ironic how holier-than-thou Bella acted in moments, when she was the one gallivanting off multiple times, leaving them to pick up the pieces.
Gemma went into the kitchen and to the fridge, where she looked at the same foods like plenty of times before. Her eyes scanned across each label again and again as she tried to convince herself something in there tasted good. Eventually she settled on the lunch meat that was sealed close in a plastic baggy. Her stomach was beginning to feel uneasy, so as she sat down at the table she hoped eating would help.
Sitting at the kitchen table alone and stuffing her mouth, stuck with her thoughts felt like the normal. Attention was only ever on Bella and her strange love triangle; or the fact she made dramatic decisions. Always grounded it seemed. So it made sense how nobody in the family seemed to notice Gemma's self destructive behavior.
Gemma sat there with an incredulous look on her face as she chewed, growing more and more anxious by the moment.
She placed her food down, getting up to put things away as an idea washed over her. Gemma was often left in the dark, left wondering why her once cautious big sister suddenly changed since dating Edward. What would she find? Probably nothing but that feeling in her chest wasn't going away.
"Yeah you're not disappearing on me this time." Gemma grumbled aloud deciding to act this time. Catch Bella in the middle of plotting some scheme if she may.
Charlie wasn't a strict father when it came to most, and especially not with Gemma as she wasn't the one running off to other states or countries. There were no motorcycle incidents or annoying boyfriends that he had to sit in the other room to watch over. She worked hard at her job and got the best grades she could, he never had to worry about her. And Gemma minded her business, and was with friends all the time- Charlie liked that.
So with a huff, Gemma went to her room to change out of her pajamas. Annoyance was seeping into her thoughts even over the panicking images of Bella hurt or fleeing the state. Like darkness clouding her mind as she slipped on a hoodie she saw intruding flashes of the Cullen family doing the unthinkable to her sister. The common denominator in all the family issues was the Cullen's, it was hard to not think less of them. But Gemma shook those thoughts and dug her heels into the floor to continue with her plan. Gemma assumed Bella would be at the Cullen's house, or that someone in the family would know where she was. She wanted to see what went on for herself- what was so damn interesting about the family that Bella would discard her own.
