YN woke up in the morning and stretched as she ran her fingers through her tangled mat of bed-head. The alarm on her phone sang over the birds crankily screeching outside her window. The sky still slept, and the earth was cozily wrapped in it's darkness.
Dragging herself out of bed, she managed to dress herself for the day. She wore the same black cami, grey slouchy sweater, ripped blue jeans, and black vans every day to school. She could wear any number of other things in her wardrobe, but these days, that was all she had the energy to put on.
Snatching up a magenta bottle of outdated Bath and Bodyworks body spray, she gave herself a light spritz. Following that, she reached for a small perfume sample she had gotten at the mall with her friend, Roxanne, a spoiled rich brat who had moved to YN's neighborhood from a big city on the west coast.
YN never paid attention to which city Roxanne was from, thinking she would leave her in the dust once she realized how much of a bore she was, but Roxanne had different plans.
Because her father was the illustrious producer Jae Green, their family was extremely well-off. YN wasn't sure why, Mr. and Mrs. Green exercised little to no discipline with their daughter, and allowed her to dish out copious amounts of attitude, especially with the reputation she imagined they had to maintain. Instead of discipline, Roxanne's parents would usually hand over a credit card and send her on a wild shopping spree.
YN only knew about all this because after the Greens had moved to town, she had had to take Roxanne around school for a day - heaven knows why the school chose her to take Roxy of all people around school - and Roxanne spent the entire lunch period on that day ranting about how her parents had decided to buy a normal house in a normal neighborhood when they could've afforded a millionaire's mansion uptown. She went on and on about how she was pissed off at her parents for stooping so low on the social scale, rallying support from her fellow students, except YN, who didn't take any interest. After school, Roxanne found out YN lived just down the street, and decided that they were going to be best friends from there out.
YN didn't believe her, but smiled and played along with the friendship facade, so that she didn't seem rude. Lo and behold, Roxanne pulled up into YN's driveway in a fancy chrome Tesla with a credit card, and an evening's worth of gossip boiling in her veins by the end of the week, and dragged YN with her to the mall.
YN spritzed the perfume sample on her wrists and blindly reached for her earrings that were lying somewhere on her dresser. After finding them and putting them in, she threw her hair into a bun without brushing it, and wandered to the bathroom down the hall. YN flipped on a light and blinked as she was momentarily blinded. Once her vision cleared, she filled her mouth with mouthwash and reached for her mascara. In the kitchen, she could hear her parents quietly talking over coffee and their collections of scientific magazines.
As much as she wasn't in the mood for conversation in the morning, it was nice to hear something other than the dreary silence of her mother sipping tea alone.
YN's father was a traveling Archeologist, while her mother was a biology professor at a local university. YN? In her mind, she was the most ordinary person in the family, but her eyes distorted the reality. A sharp, logical mind, capable of exceptional grades and making excellent decisions, however she was not without faults. YN was more of a lone-wolf personality. She hated teamwork and relying on it in any way, shape, or form. In addition, she had very apathetic tendencies because her emotions had made themselves strangers to YN over the years.
YN stretched and yawned as she ambled down the hallway and into the softly lit kitchen. Her mother looked up with a soft smile as the family's Tibetan Mastiff, Trinket, trotted up to YN for his morning pets.
"Good morning, sleepy head." Her mother, Vex mumbled tenderly.
YN nodded.
"Morning, Dad." YN grumbled, as she plunged a hand into Trinket's ocean of fur on his head, to scratch behind his ears.
Percival looked up from his exploration magazine. "Good morning, dear." He greeted with dignity.
"We have fresh cinnamon scones for breakfast if you want some, love." Mrs. De Rolo offered YN as she finished petting Trinket.
"I'll take one, thanks mom." YN replied, looking up from their dog.
Her mother reached back to the kitchen counter for a scone and then passed it up to her daughter. YN scarfed down the pastry as she poured herself a glass of milk, and then chased down her breakfast with the beverage.
From there, YN picked up her backpack, which was hanging on an oddly looking rustic iron hook by the front door.
"I'm off." She announced.
"Have a good day, sweetie. Remember you are a strong and dignified De Rolo. Take care of yourself, and study hard." YN's father called as she left the house.
Closing the green, painted, front door behind her, YN breathed in the fresh air.*** Hello reader! Thank you for making it this far into this "choose your own ending" fanfiction! Please leave a comment and get ready for the next choice in your story! ***
