Unexpected change

Chapter 3. Mom and Dad

After the talk I had with stef and Taylor I feel more comfortable about even thinking about calling them 'mom and dad' after dinner I said goodbye and went to bed...tomorrow school again...I don't want to go I just wanna stay here and sleep... It may sound childish but I want that.
i went to my room and fell asleep. the next morning i had to wake up..thanks to my alarm again, i dress up and walked downstairs yawning but instead of seeing stef as usual I saw taylor making breakfast he turned around, smiled at me and said "good morning, ann" "hey...where's stef? i asked as i sat down looking at the food he had prepared "oh, she was not feeling well so i let her sleep" he said, i hope she gets better "oh, is she sick?" i asked "i don't think so maybe she's just tired" he said. i knew he was worried but was acting like everything is fine so i dont get worried, i ate breakfast, and went to gaga and taylor's room to say goodbye before going to school, she was sleeping, her body covered with multiple sheets "stef?" i said and touched her arm she was boiling hot "taylor!" i screamed he rushed and entered the room "what's wrong?!" he asked "stefani, i think she has fever" i said panicky he walked next to her she was still sleeping even tho i screamed really loud, he touched her forehead "oh, you're right" he said and moved her so she woke up, but she didnt "stef? honey wake up" she just grunted "Im cold" she said "you have a fever im gonna make you a cold bath" taylor said and walked to their bathroom and turned on the water i stayed there i was really worried "ann" she said and i looked at her, she was really pale "im here" i sat on the bed next to her "im cold" she said again and covered her body with more sheets "i know you are, but taylor is preparing a bath for you, so you can feel better" i said nervoulsy "where is he?" she asked me "he's in the bathroom, mom" i said...oh god did i just called her mom? couldn't i find a more apropiated moment, her eyes opened wide looking at me "did you just..." she said but taylor came out of the bathroom..thanks god "okay, baby come here" he said and took her in his arms. i was still on the bed. i heard a scream "please stef, or you won't get better" i heard taylor say. i went to the kitchen i guess i'll be late for school but being honest i don't care i prepared stefani's favorite tea, ginger, when i finished i went to her room again and knocked at the door "come in" taylor said i entered and saw stef on the bed again "em..i brought you this" i said shyly and left it on the nightstand "thank you" she smiled, she looked better not too much but better, i looked up at taylor and he said "ann i guess you wont be going to school today sorry" "it's okay i didn't wanted to go anyway" i said without thinking , he looked at me confused and worried, perfect it was exactly what i didn't wanted "what? why?" he asked and stef also stoped siping her tea to look straight at me c'mon annabelle think fast "it's just that i still don't get used...that's all" I said fast "oh okay...go upstairs and change your clothes then" Taylor said still worried I knew he didn't believed me. I nodded and went to my room, when I opened the door I saw Asia sleeping in my bed, I smiled and pet her for a while, then I walked to my closet and took jeans and a white crop top. When I was ready I decided that I would take Asia to see Stef I know how much he loves maybe I would make her feel better. I took her in my arms and walked to her room when I was about to knock I heard them talking...about me.
"She called me mom, Taylor" I heard Stefani say...god I screw it up
"She did? That's great" Taylor said from his voice I could tell he was smiling "yeah, she's opening up a little bit, she's been really quiet since yesterday, don't you think?" Stef said...okay this is my signal to interrupt their conversation, so I knocked on the door, "it's open!" Stef said so I just pushed it, still with Asia in my arms "Asia was worried too so I brought her here" I giggled letting Asia on their king sized bed, the little black puppy started running to Stefani "piggy!" She said and hugged Asia. Taylor and I were just smiling "how are you feeling?" I asked after a few seconds, she looked up to me and said "better,thank you, that tea really helped tho" I laughed.

It was now dinner time and stefani was feeling much better, she insisted that she was fine now, but Taylor decided that it was better for her to stay in bed at least for today. Taylor and I were making dinner "can you pass me that spoon, please?" He said "sure" I said and did it we started talking like a...father/daughter kinda thing "oh Taylor?" I said "yeah?" He replied still looking if the food was ready "ehm I...I got an email from school...and it said that next week we will be having a father/daughter dance ball and..." I was so nervous and I didn't knew why, he smiled and looked at me "I know I got the email too" he said I smiled shyly "so...do you think we should go?" I said "I mean...do you want to go?" He asked back....I'm not getting answers "well, I've never been to a dance before, let alone a father/daughter one" I said "well we don't have to go if you don't want to we can watch a movie of something instead" I smiled "I wanna go with you, dad" I finally said. These two people, Stefani and Taylor have give all the love my family didn't. He looked shocked but happy I just smiled and hugged him "then we will go" he said and kissed my head.

A week has passed since I started calling Stef and Tay mom and dad, it was kind of weird but I was getting used to it. Today we're leaving to Chicago as Taylor proposed me to, so I can meet his friend on Chicago Fire, which I started watching because mom said it was so good and it is! My dad is so amazing....it stills sounds weird for me to say mom or dad but it's a good type of weird.
When the plane landed we went straight to dad's apartment it was big, not as big as the NYC apartment or the Malibu house but still. "So here it it" dad said as we entered we left our bags on a corner and dad proposed to order pizza as we were waiting for it I got a text 'hey orphan!' It said I was confused because it was a number I didn't had on my list or anything so I replied 'who's this?' 'It's me Riley, duh, you're not very popular how do you ask who's this? Who else could it be your imaginary bf hahaha' I looked sadly at the screen and threw my phone to the couch mom saw me and asked "Ann? Are you okay?" "Yeah I'm fine" I tried to calm down, why the fuck was she texting me and how did she got my number?! "you sure honey?" She caressed my cheek, I moved her hand away "yeah mom really I just...need to be alone" she looked at my with sadness and walked away I took a deep breathe and closed the door of my room, she was right...Riley was right I didn't had any friends...why? But because I'm adopted? Or what? The only person that talked to me was Alex a guy from the boy's school that's on the same block as mine...actually the same guy that waved at me on my first day. So I decide to text him 'hey' I waited a few minutes and he replied making me smile 'hey Annie ;) did you landed in Chicago?' He wrote 'yeah I'm already in my room :) what are you doing?' I sent him, he was always nice to me, maybe a I little too nice but I liked that he was always making cute nicknames for me but...I just know him for a week so I'm trying to stay friends 'I was watching tv and now I'm taking to you princess :p' I was about to reply when my mom called me 'sorry I have to go talk later?' 'Okay have fun <3' he sent me and I walked where my mom was "c'mon Ann we're going to the set" she said "what set?" I asked as I put on some shoes "the Chicago Fire set duh" she giggled "for real?!" I said excited "yeah c'mon!" She said opening the door "where's dad?" I asked and looked around "he got a call and he's already there" mom explained and we walked outside the building to a black SUV we got inside and Peter drove us to the fire station I got out of the at immediately I was maybe a little too excited to be there "Ann!" I heard and turned around and I saw dad wearing a firefighter uniform that said 'severide' on the back I run to hug him that was so corny haha mom walked behind me and kissed dad "come in Ann I wanna introduce you to the crew" he said and I was already fangirling over Chicago Fire we walked inside and all of the actors and actresses were there "so guys" my dad said and everyone looked at me "she is Annabelle" first Monica walked and said "hey Ann we've heard a lot of things about you" I smiled and greeted her then Jesse walked up to me "yeah Taylor doesn't shut up about you or gaga" I laughed and then the rest of the crew said hi as well.
They started filming a new episode and it was amazing when they finished mom and I sneaked to the dressing room and they were empty I took dad's uniform and put it on and his helmet there were huge on me but who cares and mom took one of his shirts and we started taking pictures everywhere.
When the day was over I was in bed just looking in my phone and I got a text from Riley it said 'you're pathetic if you think that Alex graham will ever date you, he talks with you only cause he feels bad that you are always alone, accept it orphan if your mother didn't loved you how anyone can? Hahaha plus why don't you loose some pounds maybe then you can get some friends which I doubt' I just looked at it and cried.
