The dark black atmosphere glistening with the diamond like moon was slowly fading away, letting room for the bright colors to fill up the sky. The large pink sky was glowing as the ball of fire came into the view, shining its light, providing a silhouette of the magical rays of light to anyone who set their eyes upon this sight. The pink was being replaced with a light magenta and the sun spread itself into beautiful orange rays, blessing everyone with the mystery of light . The sight was absolutely breathtaking, and was a painting for the eyes of anyone who saw it. The soft chirping birds responded with sweet melodies to anyone who was listening. It provided a sense of comfort, a warm feeling
She moved her hand to support her upper body and sat upright, her long legs spread across her mattress as she looked around her surroundings trying to take in the sudden blissful light coming into her balcony.
Smiling, she got up making her way into her kitchen. She sighed as she went from cupboard to cupboard trying to find the right coffee mix that she wanted, not too dark or too light. A right balance is what she called it. But she sighed as she acknowledged that she forgot to buy more.
Grabbing her keys and pulling on a light brown cardigan over her petite shoulders, she locked her doors and began walking towards the market. The market was one of the most crowded places in this tiny city, it was never empty and was filled with presence constantly. It was one of the main incomes of everyone living, ranging from small boxes of rings and necklaces, baked sweets that could be smelled miles away, to large paintings hanging on the four corners of a thin curtain. Kierra quietly walked over to the bakery section and waited in line for her turn to arrive, to get what she needed and leave. As she was waiting, her mind wandered to those mysterious notes again. She couldn't go a day without anticipating another one. The excitement, and the feeling that she felt was none like other. The rush of ehr thoughts faded as she felt someone bump into her.
"Oh darling! I am sorry" the voice cried as she turned around to see a white stain on her brown attire.
"Oh dear! It's all ruined now isn't it. Let me see it" a woman, about the age of 50 spoke in front of her and she remained wide eyed, as she moved closer, and her eyebrows rose.
"You're..Kierra..innint?" the lady asked, tilting her head slightly with her eyebrows scrunched and Kierra nodded slowly.
"Oh darling! Don't you remember me?" the lady exclaimed and she shook her head with an apologetic look.
"I was working in the library! In the back aisle" she said
"My son used to run around and cause so much trouble. Oh! How I thought Madam Selene would fire me the first day with that little monster causing all that ruckus" she chuckled shaking her and Kierra politely nodded with a small smile
"Anyways..how are you holding up dear?" she asked with a concerning look, taking in Kierra's wrists into her own.
"I know her passing was very hard for you. Like a mother she was to you, wasn't she?" she asked now with a sad tone and Kierra remained put in her position with no such movement.
"Um..m'alright. Um, holding up well" she said with a tight smile forming on her face, and the lady returned a sad smile.
"Well, I have to" she motioned her head towards the line, in which she was next and the lady seemed to snap her eyes open and regain her consciousness again.
"Oh! Yes, of course dear" she said letting go of her wrists. "Call me up if you need anything. Don't be a stranger" she said and Kierra plastered that same smile once again, growing tired of it. "Of course" she replied and got her perfect coffee, and was more than happy to go home again.
She stood in front of her door, thinking of going on or not. Minutes passed and she remained in the exact position. Whatever, she murmured to herself and went into the library instead. Walking through the dark, she finally reached the table and grabbed the book from it. She slid down, leaning against the foot of the table and began writing inside.
Sorry. An easy word to say, but not as easy to accept it.
She wrote the small yet meaningful sentence and placed the book on its previous position. Exiting the library she made her way into her house again. No. It wasn't her home, and it hasn't been for a long time.
