"Kiera! Are you up yet? I need some help down here." She heard a voice screaming from downstairs as she groaned and hid her face under the pillow.
"Kiera Bouseloff! Do I need to come up there and get you down myself young lady. Come down here this instant!" the lady's voice soared through the empty walls of the house. She sat up on her bed and rubbed her eyes. The sun was shining from her window making her room glow of the morning brightness. She huffed and reluctantly went downstairs to find the lady standing on a ladder.
"Morning" she said in a quiet voice. Still a little frazzled from her sleepy state, she sat down on the couch and hid her face in her hands.
"Morning. Kiera" the lady said with a smile as she climbed down the ladder carefully. She set the books that she had in her hand aside and stood in front of Kiera.
"Did you have a good sleep?" she asked as Kieera slowly nodded, still hiding her face from the morning sunshine that filled the house.
"Alright, then. Get up. We have loads of work to do" the lady said and Kiera shook her head as a no. The lady tapped her foot running out of patience and she groaned.
"But it's a Saturday" she said leaning her back against the couch, when she was pulled back up. She let out a small noise as she was forced to stand up on her feet.
"You know what they say, when you start with the week with a positive mood, you have to end the week with the same. Now, get some coffee and we shall begin to work" the lady said with a slight smile and a stern look on her face as Kiera nodded and made her way to the kitchen.
She had to squint with the amount of light that was coming from the windows. Kiera still did not understand why the lady was so stubborn about having no lights and only natural light. Some might say that they are still living as barbarians in this age: A huge house with no lights of any sort and candles during night time. She closed the window and approached the counter to find that there were no seeds for the coffee.
"We're out of coffee" she screamed expecting a response but she did not get any. She scrunched her eyebrows and went to the living room to find no one there. She figured that the lady went out to her garden and began to walk there. But, there was no one there either.
"Madam Selene. I said we're out of coffee." she said as she walked from room to room in the enormous house.
"Madam, are you here?" she asked in a small voice as she began to walk faster, rushing from door to door and abruptly opening and closing all of them.
"Madam? Selene?" she continued to ask but received no answer. Then, she reached the one room that she was told to never go into. Madam made it very clear from the beginning, that Kiera is free to go to any room but that one in the house. She let out a slight breath as she stood in front of the door and she knocked.
"Madam, if you're in there open the door" she said and she heard nothing.
"Madam, open the door or I'm coming in" she said and opened the door slowly. A small creaking noise was caused and she flinched . She sucked her breath in and stepped into the room quietly.
"Madam?" she felt the need to say in a whisper.
"Madam are you in here?" she asked as she went further into the room. But she heard no response. She stood in the middle of the small space and looked around until her eyes landed on one note. She made her way towards the desk that contained the note and she picked it up.
"To Keira:" said the note and she opened it to find nothing inside. She flipped it back and forth and still found no writing except for her name. She heard a noise behind her and she abruptly turned around dropping the note. When she bent down to pick it up, she realized that it was missing.
"Where did it go?" she whispered to herself trying to find it, but she couldn't.
"Where, where, where?" she continued talking,
........
" Where, where, where?"
"Excuse me? Excuse me? Are you ok?" someone shook my shoulder.
I opened my eyes and blinked to find myself seated in a chair in the library. I rubbed my face rather harshly and turned around slightly to a man standing behind me with a hand on my shoulder.
"Are you ok, miss? You were talking in your sleep" he said and I smiled and nodded assuringly.
"Yes. Yes. Of course I am Sir. Sorry for the trouble" I said quickly and got up from my seat to face him.
"No problem" he smiled and walked away. I let out a slight breath and walked to the reception desk. I was waiting for the computer to turn on with my elbows on the desk. I let out a small breath and closed my eyes.
"Where?"
