Chapter 14

"So, is the wedding out of the table?" Tanong ni Nanay..she insisted that I call her that.

Kasalukuyan kaming nakaupo sa malaking picnic table ng mga Del Russo. We're currently in their backyard. Akala ko ay sa loob kami magdi-dinner but instead, they took us here in their huge and really aesthetically pleasing backyard. Ang dilaw na mga fairylights ang lumiliwanag sa malaking lugar. It is hanging above our heads and there are also some that are wrapped around a huge tree near the roman pool and there's also a slide, which they built because of Eriz. I know. Crazy.

Kakatapos lang namin mag-dinner. Filipino-Italian courses were served such as Filipino style spaghetti, Tatay Von's specialty which is Carbonara. May menudo, garlic bread, sinigang na baboy, friedrice and tapa...It was last minute because Eriz mentioned it at agad na nagpaluto si Nanay Ezra.  

Eriz is in the pool, rinig dito ang kanyang maliit na tawa, now, she is sitting in Mary's shoulders as they go around the pool. Miguel and Mary were also there. Kinailangang umalis ni Madison dahil may kailangan siyang daluhan na kaso sa firm, 
The watersplashes and Eriz's giggles are echoing, she's clearly having fun bonding with her aunties and uncles who really like to be with her.

I glanced on my right. Creed..yes, may isa pang Del Russo. 

He's quietly sitting on the lounge chair..staring at the dark, starry, night sky with the bottle of beer in his hand. Unlike Ethan he has longer hair and his face is covered in beard ngunit hindi maitatanggi na may histura siya. His eyes were green...it was somehow dark and mysterious. He has pointed nose, and tall. Unlike the bright and loud other Del Russo's..he was odd in a way..observant and silent. He greets in a polite manner and would throw me a glance or two.

Natigil ako sa pagtingin sa paligid nang hawakan ako ni Ethan sa hita. I glanced at him.

"For now...mama." Sagot ni Ethan. His jaw clenched.

Bahagyang napatango ang mag-asawa. Tatay Von drank his wine. 

I stayed quiet. Hindi ko alam kung ano ang sasabihin ko. Instead, I grabbed my bottle of beer and drank the bitter and cold liquid.

We shrugged the marriage question earlier dahil sinabi ko na masyado pang maaga para doon and Ethan didn't object yet he was silent ever since. 

Hindi ko alam kung may ginawa akong mali sa kanya or sinabi..I just did what I felt the right thing to do and that was a big question. Magulo pa at wala sa ayos ang relasyon namin..hindi ko pa nga alam kung ano kami..sure, he said that we're dating but that's another story..that happened before he learned about Eriz and it was informal...rushed..and I was blackmailed into it.

We never had a proper conversation about what we are since all we do is sèx.

Diving into a wedding or marriage wouldn't be the best decision to do kahit na may anak na kami at nakatira na kami sa isang bahay. I don't view marriage as just formality, two people do it because they are in love and they really want to do it and not because they have to do it. 

That's how I view marriage.

That is why we need to have a talk..to figure out what the fuck are we...are we just parents to a kid who lives together and sleeps together but doesn't want more than that or we're parents to a kid and would still want more than that...because I do...pero not to the point that I'm marrying him..just yet. All I know is that, I like him...but I don't know about him...hindi ko alam kung ganoon din ang nararamdaman niya.

I sighed softly and placed the cold bottle on the table. Itinaas ko ang kamay ko sa kanyang kamay na nasa lamesa at hinawakan ko iyon. 

Napatingin siya sa akin na animo'y nagulat siya sa ginawa ko. A smile curved on my lips and squeezed his hand gently. I glanced at him for a moment bago ako tumingin sa kanyang mga magulang.
