2.FRIENDLY MATCH
Huang Jin left in a rush her heat beating a mile a minute. Oh my gosh how did I make it out of there. They are all so mad at me. Why don't they understand that I left because I didn't want to hurt any of them?! Men can be so stupid! She huffed and stomped her foot in frustration.
She heard footsteps behind her.....several pairs.....She had known it wouldn't be long before someone had followed her out. She breathed in deeply and closed her eyes. She swept her long robe sleeve behind her as she turned and locked eyes with the piercing grey eyes that instantly seemed to warm her heart. She had to use all her mental power not to visibly react and she set her face in a gentle yet confident smile.
"Huang Jin?! Jiang Cheng said in an angry and confused voice. The mixture of emotions swirling in his eyes and across his face.
Huang Jin bowed low and respectfully "Sandu Shengshou."
Jiang Cheng was taken aback by her sudden use of his formal name and his brows furrowed. Both of them stood awkwardly in the middle of the courtyard off from the main hall. Neither wanted to say anything at first, but the sudden sound of multiple peoples footsteps grew louder and the chance for either of them to say anything vanished completely. Both of them looked away.
Wei Wuxian's face was flushed in a silent rage as he rushed up to Huang Jin and grabbed her by the collar like he would have to Jiang Cheng, his own brother.
"Huang Jin! How dare you leave after we saved your life without even saying goodbye! You didn't even let us know you were alright! It's been 6 months!" He was huffing in rage and Lan Zhan's hand gripped his wrist tightly.
"Wei Ying! There are people watching." Lan Zhan whispered quickly to Wei Wuxian, his eyes intense.
Huang Jin's eyes were glowing green and gold when she locked eyes with Wei Wuxian. She was having trouble controlling her emotions. She knew she would need to keep a level head. But why did they make it so difficult on her!
She grasped both his wrists "I know you are upset but we can discuss this in private. Later." She looked around and smiled at everyone watching.
She had promised Nie Huaisang not to cause a scene or do anything that would hurt the clan's reputation, and a confrontation with Wei Wuxian, in front of everyone, definitely would get her into serious trouble.
Wei Wuxian loosened his hold on her before relaxing and laughing nervously. He said loudly to all of the cultivators watching, "Ahhahaha. I was just teasing."
Everyone that had crowded around grumbled their disbelief and they all began to whisper to each other. Wei Wuxian continued to laugh nervously and shuffle his feet. Lan Wangji stood tensely with a look of concern on his face as he watched Wei Wuxian's face begin to look like he was up to something.
A mischievous grin crept over Wei Wuxian's face. He was super pissed at Huang Jin for leaving. They had trained her all of what they knew, they had saved her life and everyone risked their life too, and then she left! On top of that Jiang Cheng hasn't been the same since she left him paralyzed on the dock the night she left. He wasn't hurt or anything physically. Other than what the demon had done.
He had spent the last 6 months in the worst of moods. Most days he was bouncing between depression and anger. His mood swings were giving everyone whiplash at Lotus Pier. It was all because of her! Why can't he confront her about it? "Actually...I wanted to just challenge Huang Jin here in a friendly duel to see how far we both have come."
Instantly everyone started chatting and mumbling to each other in an excited babble. They had all heard that the infamous Wei Wuxian had started using his sword again, but no one had seen him use it yet since recovering his core. Even more alluring was this Huang Jin. The beautiful new cultivator that no one had ever seen before, let alone seen fight.
