3.CONNECTION

Chang Su sat quietly in the library of the Nie Sect, his nose thoroughly glued to a book he had been reading. He was sitting behind an ornately carved desk in the middle of a large room full of rows upon rows of newly built shelves. The entire library had been newly spruced up with the same gold ornate filigree and inlay as the rest of the main part of the Nie Sect had been when Nie Huaisang had taken over. He was a handsome young man with strong cheekbones and large doe like brown eyes. He looked very young but in fact he was around the same age as Nie Huaisang. It didn't help that he had cut off most of his hair and had tied the rest of the soft brown hair into a ponytail in the back. He had however, left his bangs roughly tousled in front of his face.

Chang Su was Nie Huaisang's left hand man and he was known to always be studying or researching things in the sect's library. He was also the best doctor in the entire region. Nie Huaisang had found him one day on his travels and invited him back to the Nie Sect. He had wined and dined him for weeks. But what had really convinced him to stay and kept him there was that Nie Huaisang had the same passion for knowledge as him. He had been the absolute best leader of any main clan he had met so far. It made him fiercely loyal to Huaisang, as they both had similar views for where they hoped the future would lead.

Chang Su heard footsteps approaching the entrance of the library and looked up from his reading. It was not footsteps he recognized. They were incredibly light but at the same time...

Lan Xichen walked by the library at that moment and looked inside. Nie Huaisang had told him about the new additions to the library last night at dinner and had urged him to check them out the next day. As he looked inside he was taken aback as his eyes locked with Chang Su's.

"Oh I am sorry. I didn't mean to interrupt what you were doing. I was just walking by and wanted to see the new renovations to the library." Lan Xichen said in a lighthearted tone.

"You didn't interrupt anything. Please come in, I was just reading that is all. Zewu Jun." Chang Su said as he put down his book and bowed politely. Lan Xichen bowed in return a gentle smile on his face.

Lan Xichen smiled and began to look around; he kept glancing at the curious person. Chang Su. he reminded himself. He had been watching him throughout the last day and a half. Lan Xichen had found the man incredibly handsome. With his strong cheekbones and those doe like large brown eyes. The man was unbelievably good looking, yet his detached nature made it difficult to determine who this person could be and what he was like. Lan Xichen had asked around and tried to inquire to people about this interesting person.

He had surprisingly come to find out that he was a well known doctor in the area. He was known to be this brilliant young genius cultivator who started off in the cultivation world known for his superior sword work but he had given it up in order to work more on the saving of lives rather than taking them. He was known to move from sect to sect in his pursuit of knowledge and cultivation. He was very young for a doctor as good as him.

"If you want to ask me something you should just ask it instead of looking at me with those sideways glances, Zewu-Jun." Chang Su said, a small smile on his face as he looked up from his book and stared at Lan Xichen.

Lan Xichen tripped mid step, a brilliant blush coming over his face, and he straightened his back before he replied in an abashed tone. "I apologize for being rude. That was not my intent. You have a keen eye." He walked over and bowed to Chang Su.

Chang Su smiled amusedly. "It really is no bother. I just wanted you to stop pacing around the room and acting like you didn't come here for other reasons than just to look at a few books. Ask what you have to ask. I am an open book."
