The knocks get louder as I search for some candy for the impatient trick-or-treaters.

'I'm coming!' I shout and grab a few candy bars that I wanted to keep for myself from the table, then I swiftly walk towards the door. When I open it, nobody is there. Am I too late?

I step outside and look around, they definitely couldn't have gone too far. But I can't see anyone around, not even a single soul.

As I am about to go back inside, I notice something odd on the ground. I lean down to pick it up. Once I get a closer look, I realise that it's a lock of blonde hair. How did it get here? Is this some kind of a prank?

Something about this makes me uneasy. I look around one more time to check if it's actually just someone trying to scare me, but once again I see no one around. When I look at the lock of hair again, I realise something that I have not realised earlier when I first looked at it.

My hair is blonde too, even around the same color tone. Could it be..?

Just the thought of it makes me sick. I drop the candy on the ground and inspect the lock of hair closer. I then grab a strand of my hair and compare one with the other. And it's almost identical.

This whole situation completely freaks me out, but before I'm even able to react, I suddenly feel something breathing on my neck. I freeze in place completely, not being able to move nor turn around to see who or what is standing behind me. The breathing slowly gets heavier the longer I stand there, making me fear for my life even more.

Two cold hands grab mine as the person behind me gets closer to me and chuckles next to my ear. The person's hands are so cold that I'm starting to doubt that it's a person.

'I've been watching you for some time,' the thing behind me whispers, its voice deeper than the ocean, lingering in my head. I look down at its hands and they're not even close to human. They're pale and thin with sharp and long fingers, so long that it's impossible it could be a person.

The voice gets louder and echoes in my mind. My head starts spinning and I feel like I'm about to faint. As I'm about to fall, I feel it pull me from behind and the further away it pulls me from the door, the more I get surrounded by darkness.

'Don't be scared.. I'll take good care of you,' it whispers in my ear before sinking its sharp fingers into my skin.
