It's October now.
Five months since I boiled over in a hot fever. I thought my skin would always be red and hard and gross, but now it's none of those things. I'm smooth, and olive, sort of glowy, and I can be out in the sun for hours, and I've even gotten a nice tan (the world's climate is acting strange, and summer won't end, it seems). I don't feel ugly anymore, and I don't have to be insecure about what Luc thinks, though he says he doesn't care how I look, which can be annoying when I try so hard to look good for him.
'Do you like it when I put up my hair in a bun?'
'Yeah, sure.'
He doesn't even look up from his book.
'I don't have to have it up if you don't like it.'
'Don't care.'
'So you don't like it?'
'Didn't say that.'
'You said it with your eyes, Luc.'
'That's not wha they said.'
'What did they say, then?'
Now he looks up.
'They said that if he only knew how fokin beautiful he is no matter how he looks on the outside, he would never ask anyone bout their opinion bout him ever again.'
And then we always start undressing each other when he says stuff like that, and he says stuff like that often.
Me and Luc share room together. We're not allowed, of course, but we don't care what Nathan says. Or, I don't, least.
Luc has mixed feelings about it. He's still close to Nathan, his friend, or some kind of foster father, or something. I don't get them. He doesn't want to disobey him, but he just won't do what Nathan is demanding and stay away from me, it's just completely and totally impossible, he says, and he told Nathan that. Nathan was speechless, so surprised Luc felt that way for me.
I haven't been in my own room since I grabbed my things to move it all into Luc's room, some days after we decided to kiss and pash forever. My friends were surprised when that happened because I hadn't told them about me and Luc yet.
'And you're a hundred percent sure this happened with a boy named "Luc"?' Poly asks, arms crossed, standing in my room as I wrap up the cables to my instruments.
'Yup.'
'Wow, Edge, this prank was even worse than the previous.'
'No prank this time, Poly.'
'Nate Junior... with Kiwiboozer?'
'Yup.'
'Ok, hilarious. I'm not falling for it, Edge.'
'We can make out in front of you if you'd like.'
I ended up having to prove it. I took what I could carry from my room, she refused to help, and I went over with it to Luc's room, taking five rounds until my room was empty, and she still didn't believe it. I waited for Luc to be finished with his study with Nathan. Then, when he was passing through the lounging room, I grabbed his big sweater and pulled him into a kiss, so he wasn't able to see anyone. We kissed a lot, and as a plus, he even started pulling my hair and making those cute high-pitch noises he does. But then he broke it with a start when Poly started screaming.
'They can know, I just don't want them to see.'
That's what he told me after he'd ran to his room when he realized I'd set it up so my friends could see us kiss. That's one of the billion differences between us; he's so freaking shy, he won't talk to anyone but me, Nathan, and Gabriel, and kissing in front of others is just the worst of the worst.
