Yuri Nakamura's Girl ~ Angle Beats

Characters: Azure Brown, and Yuri Nakamura.

Time: Early spring.

(Azure's POV)
    I hawn, sitting under a tree in the courtyard. School was yet to start, I was likely the only one awake, even the sun hadn't risen.
    "Azure, what are you doing up?" I hear a familiar voice behind me.
I turn to see a short girl with purple-pink hair. Her teal eyes gleamed the same color as my hair in the fading moonlight. She was already in her battle force uniform, and holding her phone flashlight out in front of her to see.
    "Hey, I could ask you the same thing." I told her.
    "Looking for you, we share a dorm room remember, I don't like waking up without you." She explained.
    "Did you miss me?" I ask her jokingly.
    "Of course. How could I not." She told me.
    We had been friends for a while. Since right after Yuri lost her family. She'd moved cities soon after with her parents. I was the kid that was assigned to show her around. A few years later, we were waiting for the bus stop when a car ran into us. That's when we ended up here.
    "Who are you thinking about? Your sister?" She asked, knowing that was who I was usually thinking of.
    "Yeah, I wonder if she's alright."
The girl we were speaking of was my foster sister. My father was unknown, and my mom had died giving birth, so I had grown up moving houses every few years. Before I knew it, I was in my seventh abusive foster home. There was one other girl their with me, about a year or so younger, We were often used as our foster mother's punching bag.
    "I'm sure she's fine. She's always been stronger then you." Yuri told me.
    "So, she's alone now." I said worriedly.
    "How about a distraction? Theirs not much we can do now except hope." The teal eyed girl asked.
    "Sure, that'd be nice." I stood up, knowing she probably didn't want to stay outside.

    Instead of going up to our dorm room, she lead me to the rooftop.
    "I've got a surprise for you." She told me.
    "You know I hate surprises."
    "Yeah, but I think you'll like this one." She walked over to a box she'd left up there. Pulling something out, she turned around, hiding it behind her back.
    She held the object out in front of herself. It was a light brown cowboy hat. The same color as my boots and the blazer of my, originally male, school uniform.
    "This is for me?" I asked her surprised.
    "Yep, I saw you looking at one in a comic book at the library a few days ago." She muttered, seemingly nervous.
    "Thank you so much! I've always loved these things!" I said excitedly, taking the hat from her.
"Before you put it on, there's something in it." She pointed to the inside of the hat.
    I looked inside to see a small slip of paper folded in on itself. Taking it out of the hat, I open it. It read,

Hey, I know this probably
isn't what you expect from me,
but I've got a question for you.
Would you be my girlfriend?

    I took a moment after reading the note to process the information. She knew I was lesbian, but I thought the girl was straight.
    I look up at her, my face very red, and my eyes wide. Before she even realized what I was doing, I take the few steps up to her, and hug her as hard as I could.
    "Yes, definitely yes!" I tell her, tears falling from my eyes. Soon I feel my shoulder becoming wet, she was crying too.

    We took the rest of the day off from both class, and the battle force. Going on our first date. It was the best day of my life.
    When got home to the dorms that night, we went to our room and moved our beds together. I opened our window to let the night breeze in.    We lay in bed together, holding hands as we snuggled into our blankets. Yuri slowly drifted into sleep. I heard her soft breath, and smiled.
"I love you." I mutter to her. I lean in, giving her a light kiss on her cheek.

(Yuri's POV)
    "I love you." I heard my new girlfriend say.
    I felt a soft kiss on my check, opening my eyes, I see light coming off of Azure, her gray eyes glowing beautifully. Slowly, I watched her fade away. Her figure fading in a wisp.
    "I love you too." I mutter back, before drifting back to sleep.
