Was it All Just An Illusion? (Ranzu fanfic)

"This is the beginning of the first trial.. there is only one key but there is also someone there who you cannot see, you can try and help them and possibly leave together or you can leave safely. Use your time wisely."

Ranmaru simply checked his pockets for the key, it wasn't there. Not that he planned to use it anyway,, "whoever is there check your pockets, and use the key." Anzu then checked her pockets and gripped the key "..I-I can't just use it like that.. you use it.." she tossed the key to him. He sighed "you probably have way more worth than me.." he tossed the key back. She held the key and thought for a moment "I-I can't.." she tried to look around.

"how long do we have anyway? A good amount of time right?? W-We can both get out right?.." Ranmaru hesitated to answer, "...I don't know.." Anzu started to panic again "t-there's no way I could leave you!" He flinched at that, "w-we don't even know each other.." Anzu sighs and smiles slightly. "I-I feel like we could be good friends.." Ranmaru gets a tad bit red at that, "you trust me.. just like that...?" Anzu smiles more. "I-if you didn't want me to trust you, y-you wouldn't have let me use the key.."

A bit of time passed by, leaving anzu in a panicky state again. She still held the key, and then hesitantly tossed the key to Ranmaru. "U-Use it!.." he simply tossed it back "I'm sorry but.. I can't." She started to panic more, realizing it's been 5 minutes by now.

Anzu's heart started to pound and she quickly went to unlock the restraints, sadly, she was too late. The bed closed in on her as well as Ranmaru's bed. She weakly reached for something to grab onto, grabbing Ranmaru's hand "I-I'm.. I'm... s-sorry...." He smiled, "d-dont worry.. a-about it.. I don't feel anything..." since she was able to undo her restraints she was able to weakly turn herself to face Ranmaru.

"I-I never.. got.. your name..." she weakly said, starting to try and choke down her blood that she had been coughing up. "R..Ranmaru.. kage.. ya... ma...." Anzu smiled, "A..anzu.. Ki..n.. ashi..." she waited for him to say something back, staring at him. "R..an..mar..u?...." she refused to believe that he was dead, there was no way he could be dead. She layed there, and then tried to get out of the bed only causing herself more pain. She sighed and went to hold Ranmaru's hand again. "I-I'm sorry..." she layed down and curled up, and with that she died, filled with the guilt that she could have done something..
