Addy sat on her windowsill, anxiously awaiting the results of her Excruciatingly Aggravating Graduate Level Exams or E.A.G.L.Es. She took them the previous school year as it was the exams for the fifth-years that determine what advanced subjects they were allowed to take up on their sixth and seventh years. It wasn't like she cared about what subjects she will take in her sixth year at Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardy. She was scared of the shouting of her parents, being a disgrace if she won't be allowed to take classes that were required to become an auror. She shuddered at the thought. It's not like she had a choice, her life has been planned the moment she was conceived being born in a family of well-know Aurors in the US.

"This is killing me!" Addy groaned as she never took her eyes off the window, scared to miss the owl that carried her results.

She decided to text - yes she has a phone. It became a faster means of communication between her and her friends but don't tell her parents! - her best friend Jaxon Roche.

"Did you get it yet?" She typed speedily, worried that someone might enter her room and see an object created by no-majs. Her family was pureblood and did not like the idea of associating themselves with No-Majs.

She and Jaxon had been friends since they were born. The Roche and the Fischer family had been family friends for centuries, and it was only natural for them to become close knit with the amount of time they spent together. Fortunately, Addy and Jaxon belonged to the same house, Horned Serpent. It's founder was Isolt Sayre and this house favored scholars.

Addy wasn't the best at making friends you see. Her mouth had trouble finding the right words to say in order to relate to someone. Only after an awkward interaction would she be able to think of the appropriate words she should have said to be "interesting." Jaxon however was the exact opposite. He was quite loud, and a total jokester. He absolutely loved attention, something he never got from his parents who favored his twin brother Jaxper more.

A minute after Addy hit send she felt her phone vibrate in her lap. "I can feel the anxiousness up here. You're gonna get high scores I'm sure of it."

Bzz. Another message. "Want me to come there?"

But before she could reply, there was a light tap on the glass window. Addy's face started to grow pale, her hands became clammy, and there was something in her stomach that caused great discomfort. Her results were here. She crept towards the window, her hands shaking as she opened it up allowing the majestic brown owl inside her room. There, tied to the owl's leg, was a letter with a cranberry and blue colored seal addressed to

Ms. Adelaide Olivia Fischer
Fischer Mansion, NY.

Addy didn't realize she has spent minutes just looking at the piece of parchment in her hands, waiting to be opened, until a familiar brunette with dark brown eyes and a freckled face came dashing in, a huge grin plastered on his face. It was Jaxon, who rushed to his next door neighbor's house as soon as he got his E.A.G.L.Es.

"I can't believe I'm going to —" The smile on Jaxon's face was replaced with a frown. He looked at Addy questioningly. "Why didn't you open it yet? For Isolt's sake, why are you so worried? You're in Horned Serpent!"

"That doesn't guarantee high marks Jax," Addy furrowed her brows at him. "So, how'd you do? Bet you had higher scores than Jaxper." She gave Jaxon a weak smile.

"I won't tell you anything unless you open your letter." Addy scowled at Jaxon's remark yet this didn't bother him at all. He was used to this and honestly found it quite amusing. He reached for the letter but was too slow as Addy had anticipated his sudden move. With a tighter grip and a harsher glare Addy ran to the other corner of the room.

"Open it my dear Adelaide. Open the damn letter!"

"No! I'm too young to die! I think I didn't do so well in transfiguration. My tarantula was too small for an average-sized one! My parents are gonna kill me!" Addy whispered aggressively, trying to avoid her parents from hearing that her E.A.G.L.Es had arrived.

"I-Th-What?" Jaxon was at a loss of words. He knew his best friend was a little on the extreme side, but he never realized that she was this crazy. "They don't care! Just as long as you turned that stupid pencil into a freaking tarantula, you're going to pass!"

Addy loosened her grip for a second. "Why are you so keen on finding out about my scores?"

Jaxon let out a sigh. "I wanna know if you're coming too. I won't go if you're not gonna be there."

Addy raised an eyebrow. "There? What do you mean there? Where are you going?"

Before Jaxon could open his mouth to answer, the tall mahogany door to Addy's bedroom swung open revealing a tall woman in her early fifties whose hair was as black as a crow, neatly braided into a tight updo. She wore a mauve velvet dress which had the family crest on it complementing her piercing green eyes.

"Accio letter," she spoke firmly.

"Mother," Addy tried to hide the horror in her face as the letter slipped from her grasp and landed on her mother's palm. Jaxon froze where he stood, surprised as well at the sudden appearance of Addy's mother.

"Why would you try and hide this dear? Aren't you the top of your class" her mother raised a well-groomed eye brow.

"I am mom but -"

Titania gave her daughter a small smile which surprised Addy. "My dear child, are you doubting your abilities? I mean, you are a Fischer after all."

Addy's stomach dropped. She hated that she was a Fischer. All the expectations and responsibilities she had to achieve for the sake of keeping the family name clean was a burden. She bit her bottom lip as she watched her mother tear open the letter, constantly glancing at Jaxon who gave her a reassuring look. She couldn't see her mother's expression as it was covered by the piece of parchment. Was it a look of disappointment for not being able to reach her expectations? Or was she proud and that Addy received A's or Exceptional in all her subjects.

"Well?" Jaxon spoke, breaking the deafening silence of the room.

"Adelaide Olivia Fischer" Titania emphasized each name of her daughter. This caused Addy to gulp, awaiting a long lecture and reprimanding. Instead, she got a tight embrace from Titania.

"Wh-what is it mom? Tell me!"

"You're going to Hogwarts!" Titania squealed excitedly, her strict demeanor had vanished for a second due to excitement.

"Wh- Hogwarts? What do you mean I'm going to Hogwarts?" Addy's brows were furrowed in confusion. Hogwarts was thousands of miles away, in a different country. And besides, she belonged in Ilvermorny, unless she was expelled. Or was she?
