10 years ago, this beautiful stretch of ice was inhabited only by penguins. They all helped each other in every way possible as they were very kind creatures. So kind that when a supposedly lost walrus named Ugg knocked on the elders igloo door, he let him in. You see, walruses were well known for being terrible bullies. They crept up on penguins in the sea and scared them. They beat up young penguins who couldn’t swim to safety, and often, the young penguins didn’t come home. Then a bad thing happened. Ugg wasn’t lost. While the walrus cried into the elders arms, as soon as the kind old penguin’s back was turned, the fraud was helping his walrus friends onto The Penguin Isle. Soon the walruses, with Ugg as the leader, went to round up all the locals. All the poor penguins were having a party, celebrating the 137th anniversary of the Penguin God Jonoa, but were interrupted by 12 burly walruses. Behind them was an old seal pulling a cart, and the poor seal looked near to death. It looked like it had been staved, injured and whipped. In the cart was a huge wooden crate, reinforced with copper. Everyone knew what was  going to happen, but didn’t dare say because no one wanted to believe it. This had been their fear for 137 years. One of the sweetest young penguins called Wendy didn’t know that these huge creatures were bad and she happily strode forward to offer Ugg a piece of her cake. Her mum yelped as she watched her daughter run towards these massive mountains of living creature. Wendy grinned up at Ugg and he smiled back. Only this wasn’t a nice smile. Oh no. This was the smile of a dark and twisted monster. With one hand he grabbed the young penguin and she giggled ‘Wheee!’ He threw her into the open crate. Wendy realised then that this was bad, she wailed and wailed as the crate door was locked. ‘Anyone try to run and the girl gets it.’ Sneered Ugg as he gently stroked his massive tusks. ‘Now come on BEFORE WE KILL HER ANYWAY!’ The terrified penguins were so scared that none of them put up any sort of fight, they went quietly. They had to go quietly. Then, they were put to work. The walruses were using the poor penguins as personal slaves. But there were 2 penguins who weren’t at the party....

Pedro was walking up a mountain path well, shuffling really. The little penguin looked back over his shoulder every few minutes, as if paranoid he was being followed. As he reached the peak of the mountain, he gazed down at the Penguin Slave  Camp. ’My Mum and Da are in there... ‘ Pedro thought ’I wonder if I can help them...’ Pedro sighed, ‘what can I do. I’m just a penguin. A small one at that. Nothing I do will ever make any difference.’
Little did Pedro know the thing he does next, will make all the difference in the world.
