severus snape one shots

As I stepped outside I could smell the fall breeze flowing through the courtyard at Hogwarts. I love Hogwarts in the fall. The falling leaves and the chilly air makes it feel so calming. I found a bench to sit at and pulled out a book that was in my big picnic basket. I stole the book from the library. It was an old gray book with a blank cover. I put the book up to my nose and took a whiff. I sigh. I have always loved the scent old books give off. I began reading but just as I started, I heard someone call my name.

I turn around to see a man dressed in all black walking towards me.

"Severus" I said smiling.

I close my book and walk over to him. He smiled at me which he doesn't do to just anyone. He gives off this cold, dark vibe but he's actually very charming and gentle. I give me a soft hug and he wraps his arms around me pulling me in close. I always felt safe in his arms. He pulls back still holding onto me and our eyes meet.

"Ready to go?" he asked.

I nodded and he took my hand and we walked across the yard and outside the school. The wind picked up blowing my long black skirt and my dark brown hair. We walk in silence until we get to our little spot in the trees on the other side of the building. I set down the basket and grab the white sheet I had packed for us to sit on. Severus sits down close to the small creek running behind us. 

We both had a lot of work to do and got right to it. This was one of the only times we could spend together. We both had busy schedules and didn't get to go on dates much. I enjoy this though. I prefer it over a fancy date or a night in watching a movie.

Severus worked on grading potions tests from first years. He was always pretty hard at grading so lots of kids ended up failing and had to retake the class. I was just sitting there for a bit watching him read over each paper and write the grade at the top in black ink. He looks up at me and our eyes meet. I still get butterflies even after all this time. He looks back down at the papers and lets out a small chuckle.

"What are you doing?" He says breaking the silence.

"Watching you." I said confidently with a smile to hide the fact I was embarrassed that he caught me watching him.

"Don't you have a book to read." pointing to the book resting on my lap.

"yes b-"

"Then you should get reading" he cut me off.

I giggle and open my book and begin reading again. Page after page I read until a sigh left Severus's lips and he put the papers back into his basket he brought with him. It was much much larger than I had. It was black and dark brown fitting right in with his aesthetic. He reaches in and grabs another black bag and sets it in front of him. He pulls out his wand and says a spell which makes the black bag grow bigger and he opens it.

He pulls out a guitar. I was overjoyed to see he brought it with. I knew he played but he didn't play around anyone except me but he hadn't played for me in a long time. I fold the top corner of the page I was on in my book and put it away. I layed down resting my head on his thigh. He quickly tunes the light brown guitar and begins to play. His fingers glided over the strings and the sound filled my ears.

I closed my eyes and just listened. I could hear the leaves rustling in the wind, the creek softly flowing , birds chirping and of course Severus playing. After he played a few chords to a song I had never heard before he took a deep breath and started to sing. I was in complete shock but I just kept my eyes closed. I layed there just listening to the man. I was completely in love with singing for the first time ever. I tapped my foot to the beat and swayed my body a little. I felt like I was in heaven. I never wanted it to end. He stopped singing and he played the last few chords of the song and I opened my eyes. He was looking down at me smiling slightly. I sat up and cupped his face.

"That was wonderful Severus." I said giving him a soft kiss

"Thank you" He said quietly and he put the guitar back in the case, made it smaller and put it back in his basket.

I looked at my watch and noticed it was getting late.

"I think we should get going now" I say.

He just nods and stands up. He reaches out for my hand to help me up. I take it and he pulls me up to my feet. I grab the sheet and shake it out so all the leaves are off of it, fold it up and put it back in my basket. We start walking back towards Hogwarts and I take his free hand. His hand is much bigger than mine but they fit perfectly like our hands were meant to be.

We take our time walking back just enjoying each other's presence. I started humming a tune and swayed our arms back and forth.

"You're so cute, you know that right" He said.

I looked at the ground again, hiding the fact I was blushing. Even though we've been together for a while I still get just as nervous as I did when I met him the first time.

We got up back into the courtyard. He lets go of my hand and we say goodbye to each other. He puts his hand on my waist, pulls me close and kisses my cheek. I wave to him and he walks down the hall to his room. I watch as he walks away and turns around the corner. I make my way to the stairs that lead to my room and put all the stuff in my basket away and lay on the couch. I start thinking about the way Severus was singing and I slowly fall asleep.
