"so can i call you tonight?"

After parting ways with the girls, I decided to slip away to the Astronomy Tower. The recent events had left my mind cluttered, and I needed a moment of solitude. The view from the tower was breathtaking. The school grounds were bathed in soft light, the night sky glittered with stars, and a warm summer breeze played through my curls. I inhaled deeply, savoring the tranquility, and closed my eyes.
A faint vibration emanated from my necklace. Perhaps it was sensing the relaxation that had finally settled over me.
"It's Princess Violet in her little tower," came Pansy's sneering voice, shattering my peace. I groaned inwardly, pealing my eyes open. Why did she always feel the need to torment me? I turned to find Pansy standing a few feet away, flanked by two of her friends, all with wands drawn. My heart sank. Three against one was far from ideal.
I reached for my wand, but Pansy was quicker. "Expelliarmus!" she shouted. My wand flew from my hand, clattering onto the wooden floor, leaving me defenseless. My heart pounded in my chest, realizing that I was helpless. Pansy hummed a saccharine tune. "Now... don't scream, it will only hurt for a second," she said, her voice dripping with malice. The threat of expulsion didn't seem to faze her in the least.
"Hexos fretus pellarius," Pansy and her friends chanted in unison. A searing pain shot through my head, and I screamed. Why was she doing this to me? What had I ever done to her? I clutched my head, trying to block out the agony.
"Hexos fretus pellarius!" Their voices grew louder, more insistent. My knees buckled, and the necklace around my neck began to shake violently. I collapsed, writhing on the ground. The pain was excruciating, and I screamed until my voice was hoarse, and the walls shivered from the sound but it felt like no sound escaped my lips.
Suddenly, the pain ceased, replaced by a fuzzy sensation that left my head swimming. Tears blurred my vision, and my eyes were puffy and red. My body felt weak, too weak to even lift myself off the cold floor. Pansy's cruel laughter echoed in my ears.
"That's for Malfoy. Next time you'll meet your end, princess," she sneered, before she and her friends sauntered away, still laughing. She had no idea who she had just provoked. Darkness crept in at the edges of my vision, and I felt myself slipping into unconsciousness.

Gray... Eyes... Silver... Eyes...
For what felt like an eternity, all I could see were those eyes—gray like a restless sea beneath a storm, silver like moonlight reflecting off still water. They flickered, dilating ever so slightly, studying me. A wave of warmth spread through my chest, a strange comfort settling over me. Why did they make me feel... safe? Happy, even? A part of me wanted to smile, to sink into that feeling, but confusion gnawed at the edges of my mind.
What was happening?
Then, like a shattering mirror, reality came rushing back. The last thing I remembered was Pansy Parkinson. Her smug, piggish face twisting in triumph as she cast that hex on me. My stomach clenched. That witch.
I needed to wake up.
With a sharp inhale, I forced my eyes open. The familiar scent of antiseptic potions and parchment filled my nose—I was in the infirmary. Alone. Dim moonlight filtered through the windows, casting long shadows across the room. A strange tingling sensation crawled up my palm, an almost burning itch. Lifting my hand, my breath hitched.
A black X was carved into my skin.
She really hexed me.
My fingers trembled as I traced the mark, but the anger rising in my chest quickly overpowered any fear. I swung my legs over the side of the bed and stood, my limbs sluggish but steady. I wasn't about to lie here, waiting to recover, while Pansy Parkinson got away with this.
