Ch.4

Signing Day

YN POV

I'm currently sitting in the lockerroom texting my parents about Brandon and I's signing table. Today is the day we reveal what school we will be signing to and I'm super excited. I was getting dressed when I hear the intercom. "Attention students, may teachers release all sports teams and signees to the main gym! Signing will go live on the school website in 30 minutes! Thank you!" fills the lockerroom. I clean up my clothes and makeup, lock my locker and head to the gym.

When I enter the gym, I spot everyone standing in the center of the gym as the bleachers filled with all sports teams. " Hey my people" I say through a big smile. "Somebody excited" Sharife smiles at me. Sharife and I's relationship has been smooth so far. We work out together, help eachother study and everything. He makes me so happy. " I'm just ready to pop out!" shrugging my shoulders. We continue to hold a coversation until we hear the athletic director say " Signees make your way to your tables, teams please take a seat! We will begin signing!" We start signing in alphabetical order. Destin goes first as she reveals she will be attending Clark Atlanta. Next up was Brandon and I and my heart drops to my stomach and i'm suddenly filled by nervousness. Brandon starts first, " After talking to multiple school and receiving many offers, I came to the final decision. I decided I will take my talents to...." He pauses as he fumbles through hats from his top 5 decisions and puts one on. " Kentucky" he continues. The basketball team goes crazy for a while and then it was my turn. " Um after reviewing my offers, taking visits and talking to coaches... I've decided to take my career to..." I pause as my family and I stands up and unzips our jackets. " Tuskegee University" I say with a smile. I hear claps, screams and whistles fill the room. I looked over at Sharife as he winked at me and prepared to reveal his decision. Soon Sharife reveals he will be going to Auburn and Masyn later reveals she will be going to Auburn.

After a few hours signing is over and school is letting out. " Aye y'all we throwing Omar a signing party at the bistro tonight. Don't tell him though. He took his injury to heart" Sharife states as he placed his arm around me. " What time it start?" Masyn asks. "He supposed to be there by 7:30" Sharife says. " So basically be there by 7 Masyn" I jokingly say. We walk and talk as we go to Masyn's car ause today was her day to bring us to school. When we get to Masyn's house, everyone goes their seperate ways. As 

6:30 PM 

I added the finishing touches to my outfit as Brandon came barging into my room. " Are you done yet?" I roll my eyes at his impatience,"Yes Brandon!". We tell our parents we're leaving and wait on Masyn and Destin to meet us at the car. When we arrive at the bistro, we make our way to the VIP section where we see Rife, Isaac, Te'a, and Mani. "What's up" Rife daps up BJ and hugs me. We all speak and exchange hugs as we wait for Omar to show up. A few minutes later, Big O spoke over the intercom, " Yuuuur! Everyone in position Lil O just pulled up!" We get in position as the lights dimmed and music turned down. After waiting, Omar and Milan walk through the door. "Surprise!" filled the room as Omar jumped from the unexpected party.

As the night starts to wind down, Omar makes his way to the stage. " Wassup y'all? Umm for starters, I just want to thank you all for being here. I took my injury to heart and didn't know where my career would go. But today, I'm blessed to announce I will be attending Woodstock Academy Prep for basketball in Woodstock,CT" We cheered and continued to party. Everyone sang and danced the night away. Next stop, graduation.
