It was the day I couldn't wait for but also dreaded. September 1st. It was here. I couldn't wait to be back at Hogwarts and get away from this place I call "home," but it sometimes kills to know most people (the people who aren't in Slytherin) hate you.I carefully placed my ticket for the train into my pocket and quietly said "wingardium leviosa," to make my trunk float in the air and make it travel behind me down the stairs.
I reached the door before Lucius stiffly walked up to me and my twin brother who had just appeared next to me.
He was puffing and out of breathe, which I assumed meant he ran down the stairs to get to the door before Lucius did.
"Anastasia, Draco," said Lucius while glaring at each of us "I expect to you do well in school this year, and no slip ups."
I had opened my mouth to reply, but he gave us an evil look which still sent shivers down my body even after seeing it for years and he had turned away. No goodbye, no I love you, no nothing.
I took a glance at Draco's face, which looked as bland as it did every year on this day. He seemed to have gotten used to disappointment and lack of love from our parents, from our father.
It wasn't long before Draco suggested we should leave so we aren't late, but since when are we late for the train. We usually are the first ones out of our friends to get there. But I soon let that thought out of my mind as Narcissa approached us, ready to apparate my twin and I to Kings Cross.
She grabbed my arm and as I heard the deafening crack of apparation, the wheezy ness came to my stomach making me feel as I was going to let go of my breakfast. I closed my eyes hoping I could keep it down until I felt my feet stumble to the ground and Draco grip my arm to hold me up. I felt the corners of my mouth lift up to give him a small smile as a thank you and turned to Narcissa. I nodded as a goodbye like usual, but surprisingly she brought Draco and I into a small hug. After a few seconds she let go softly, as if we were statues she just stopped from falling over and breaking. I gave her the same small smile Draco had received moments earlier and turned to grab my trunk.
I saw Draco doing the same and I turned to see Narcissa gone. What a shocker. We walked into Kings Cross station together, scanning the building for the barrier between platforms 9 and 10. Draco pointed it out when the numbers caught his eye, and we rushed over to it. We both cautiously slid through the barrier and made it to platform 9¾.
Draco rushed off as he spotted crabbe and goyle. I was never fond of them two knuckle brains, they were dumb and useless apart from doing whatever Draco asked of them.
I managed to put my trunk in the train on my own and I made my way onto the hogwarts express to look for an empty compartment. As I did so someone ran into me in the isle. I could just tell who it was by their hair. "Watch where your going weasel." As I said that the girl weasleys youngest brother, Ron spoke up
"Maybe watch your attitude."I rolled my eyes and quickly replied "I could, but I don't want to. If you paid me I would, but wait, you don't even have enough money for a decent meal."
The red-headed boy looked as if he was going to attack me but decided not to, probably because he knew I could get him in more trouble than he has ever been in. And that kid with 'the boy who lived' and their friend, granger always got themselves into deep shit.
Instead he pushed passed me, dragging his sister with him. I just gave them a sinister smirk.
I made my way through the isle until I found a compartment. A couple minutes later daphne greengrass came along with Blaise Zabini and Pansy Parkinson. Ugh. She was so irritating. Imagine how my brother felt, with that pug face child clinging onto his arm all day, everyday when they aren't even dating.
Not long after they arrived my brother with the two big buffoons and Theodore nott approached the compartment and took their seats. We had all asked eachother about their summers and what they did. When it came to Draco and I Draco just responded "uh- it was the usual, boring." I nodded in agreement knowing what he just said was a lie. The whole time Lucius was talking about how Draco was going to become a death eater. I knew it was coming, since our parents were loyal death eaters to Voldemort so they would want their children, their son to keep the family name up. As for me, to serve whoever they were going to arrange me to marry. Hopefully none of our 'friends'. It wouldn't be so bad if it was Zabini, he was always nicer to me then the others. But that doesn't mean I want to marry him. But I was still dreading the day. The day Draco would become a death eater and the day I would be forced to love someone for the rest of my life.
It was not long till daphne said "Ana, Anastasia. You there?"
"Uh- oh um yeah."
Draco gave me a confused glare but I just gave him a nod.
* * * *
Luckily I was already in my robes because we were starting to approach Hogwarts. The boys made Parkinson, Greengrass and I wait outside the compartment while they got into their robes. While we were waiting, I noticed the Weasley boy staring at me. I gave him one of my famous icy glares for a solid 10 seconds before he darted his eyes away with an annoyed look on his face. I was satisfied. He should know where he stands with me. I'm apart of the rich Malfoy family, while he is a measly little weasel who can't afford a haircut.
The hogwarts train was going to a sudden stop that made me fly forward a metre, right outside weasleys compartment which still had its door open for people to see inside.
"What do you want Malfoy?"
"Dont flatter yourself Weasley, why would I want to talk to you blood-traitors anyways," I spat at him before gracefully turning around and walking away. I never liked using blood-status as an insult, but I have to as I come from the Malfoy family. My brother uses it with ease, as if other people don't matter to him. But I have never and will never call someone a mudblood.
I got off the train and rejoined my friends on our way into hogwarts.
We were seated at our house tables once again, to await the sorting of the first years. I didn't clap for any new slytherins, as first years were just annoying and got in the way.
The feast started soon, like it had on the first day for the past three years. Dumbledore then started on his speech. He was halfway talking about quidditch when he was interrupted. That never happened. A woman that we were introduced as our new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher (DADA for short) stood up and walked over to the front.
I looked over at Draco. He was as confused as me but both our heads were snapped to the front of the great hall as the woman spoke in an ear piercing voice. I just rested my head on my hand and ignored that toad.
Soon after Dumbledore continued his speech;
"Thank you Professor Umbridge. So as I was saying, to our new comers welcome and to our older years, welcome back. I'm sure everyone is stuffed after that feast and is awaiting to climb into their comfy beds, as you need the sleep for a full day of learning tomorrow."
Soon after the tables full of food suddenly cleared and everyone stood up starting to leave for bed.
And that was the start of my fifth year.
