That Night

Two Weeks Later....

Me and Darian haven't talked in two weeks. I was still pissed at him for basically raping me. I had started to feel sick for the past couple of days. I would start throwing up as soon as I wake up. I told my mom I had the flu. She let me stay home from school this week.

On Wednesday, after my mom was gone, I went to the drug store down the street and bought a pregnancy test. I was seriously doubting that I was pregnant. I mean, it was only my first time. Darian couldn't have gotten me pregnant already. Right?

I got home and went to the bathroom. My mom wasn't here so I didn't need to worry about her walking in. I locked the door and set on the edge of the tub.

I tore the box open hurriedly and then set on the toilet to do my business on the stick like the box instructed me to. When I was done, I set the stick on the counter and washed my hands. The box said it took three minutes for the results to get in. Those were the longest three minutes if my life.

I looked at my watch and saw that three minutes were up. I practely ran to the counter. What I saw on the stick was something I never wanted to see at seventeen.

I was pregnant.

I had no idea what to do. It's been a week since I took the test and I am totally dreaming out.

I threw the test away at school just incase my mom decided to go digging through my trash. I didn't even know who to tell first. Or should I even tell anyone? I thought. Maybe I could get an abortion.

' No, no,' I thought. I could never do that to my unborn baby. I didn't want to tell my mom for fear that she would blow her top and I didn't want to tell Darian because I knew he would be a horrible father.

'He doesn't even like to babysit his cousins', I thought somberly. How can I expect him to be anything but worthless when it comes to this child, I thought as I rubbed my stomach starting to feel a connection begin to form with my unborn baby.

I decided to go to Lauren. She always knew what to do. I've never asked her about anything like this before, but she is one of the few people I trust right now.

I went over to her house after school. When I rand the door bell, Lauren's mother answered the door. She looked just like Lauren with her golden yellow hair, white smile, and a laugh that could make anyone anywhere laugh with her.

"Hi Nikki,". Lauren's mother said when she saw me. "I'll get Lauren for you." She disappeared up the stairs and in a few moments Lauren came running down them.

When she saw me she gave me a giant hug. "Hey!" She said. "I haven't seen you in forever! Come up to my room"

So we both went up to her room and she shut the door behind me. I sat down on the bed and she jumped on it after me.

"So what's up girl?" She asked.

"Uh, Lauren. I have something I want your advice about."

"Sure. Anything girl."

"Well. I'm pregnant."
