5:04 am
I woke up early as the alarm went off. Early morning training wasn't terrible once you got started, but getting out of bed was the worst. I remember my sister knocking on the side of my bed, making the knock echo in my bunk.
Ariel, my twin sister giggled at me and marched out of the room without saying a word. I remember how my back was aching from the day before. Rellik had been more strict recently, and I didn't know why. I soon realized everyone was already up and dressed, in a rush. I scrambled out of bed and gathered my clothes. Today was my first field day, therefore my first fight as a lieutenant.
I got dressed and tucked my dogtag into my uniform, and quickly I rushed to the main gathering space. I was the last one there unfortunately, and everyone was staring at me. I stood tall and proud the way I was supposed to, but it felt useless now that everyone was staring at me like a huge idiot.
"About time you got here, Lieutenant," Rellik spoke with a frozen tone in her voice.
I swallowed nervously, but I buried my emotions and kept a strict and direct face.
"My fault General, this will not happen again," I spoke loudly and clearly.
She then smiled at me, which made me feel confused. I never knew if she was mad, or pleased, or just plain amused. I took my position on Rellik's right side and stood still.
"Soldiers! Today we'll be running a rescue operation down by Hershey. Those stubborn bastards had captured this area as refuge, leaving innocent bystanders in danger." Rellik spoke with a coldness that I couldn't explain. She was angry, so today wasn't a good day to get on her bad side.
"Let's move out!" She shouted.
The rest of the room saluted, "Sir, yes sir!" and immediately left in an organized fashion to prepare for battle.
I started to walk off, but Rellik grabbed my shirt collar before I could leave.
"Just a moment, Kagayaku," she demanded. I halted and turned around to face this beast.
"Y-Yes sir." I stuttered, I've been trying to get out of that habit. Rellik made me nervous, no one would be able to stand their ground when facing Rellik. That's why she was made general.
"This is your chance, kid-" she put her hand on my shoulder, making me clench my jaw. "Don't let me down."
"I won't let you down..." he took a deep breath trying to relax.Rellik then messed up my hair playfully, "Then get your ass out there," she chuckled.
I nodded and rushed out the door, everything was about to change, I would make a difference today. I gathered myself together before getting in a truck with the rest of the troops. Ariel gave me a playful nudge and smiled, she was never afraid of anything: one of the things I grew envious about her.

6:45 am
Only a few miles away from our destination, and I can already smell the smoke and ash. The battle had already started with some scouts who left before us. Rectitiude wasn't going to let us win, but neither am I. Only two miles from our target, and the truck came to a stop.
"Let's go!" I heard Rellik command.
No one hesitated. Everyone jumped out of the truck at once, and we charged towards the small base. Ariel broke off and took half of the team to the right, where I took part of the team to the left. We would cut off anyone who was on the ground, surrounding them like a pack of wolves. Rellik leads a much smaller group straight into the center, charging like a bull. That girl had no fear, she was proud and strong. That was one of the things I admired about her.
I remember training, she had picked me out special right when my parents disowned Ariel and me. Rellik claimed she needed a special soldier, and was about to take me away. I refused however, I only accepted to fight if Ariel came with me. Ariel and I have grown closer ever since.
Off in the distance, I hear gunfire, and I see my target.
"Time to blow these bastards to hell!" I shouted.
I was feeling pretty good about today, but I would only end up hurting everyone in the end.
