Hazel strolled through the city of New Rome. It was a lovely spring afternoon. Sunlight was peeking through the clouds, colorful flowers lining the endless fields. A lot has happened since the Giant War. The two camps were united, Percy and Annabeth finished highschool and went to college, Jason and Piper soon after. Hazel had finished college a year ago. It took an eternity to decide on a major but she finally settled on design

Her head turned as she heard soft footsteps on the dirt path. There was her boyfriend Frank Zhang, praetor of New Rome.

"Hey!" She said cheerfully, her mood reflecting the positive atmosphere surrounding us.

"Hey," He smiled. "Big news!"

"What is it?" She questioned.

He held up a set of dangling keys.

"No way!" Hazel beamed. "You got the apartment!"

"Yup! And," he pulled something out of his back pocket. It was a black velvet box. Frank got onto one knee. Hazel's hands flew up to her mouth in shock.

Astra

"Bye Darling!" Her mother called from the passenger seat of the black audi. She was being dropped off at her etiquette class. She was wearing a floral, off the shoulder dress with a ruffle detail on the hem. The bunched up sleeve clung to her arm as she opened the door to the School of Etiquette. She sat down in the waiting room with the other girls who often made her feel insignificant compared to them. She waited a few minutes before peeking out of the french door to see if her mother was gone. Sure enough, the only cars that were among the streets were the ones who were most likely heading home. She picked up her backpack and hurriedly rushed out the door. One of the girls stood up and started calling Mrs. April, the course instructor. Astra dodged into the nearest bush just as the door opened and Ms. April peeked out.

She waited until she was positive the coast was clear before dashing down the street to the nearest dollar tree. She slowed down to a walk so she would look less suspicious. She went to the aisle with the clothes and started skimming through the racks. She found a tshirt and some leggings. She went to the next aisle which was a candy aisle. She grabbed the M&Ms and stashed it in the green, hand held, cart.

Astra paid for the items and surprisingly the clothes were more than 1 dollar, much to her dismay. She entered the bathroom and changed into them. The outfit didn't really match but she guess that's expected with an outfit from dollar tree. She got an Uber to bring her to the bus stop. Yeah that's right her escape vehicle was a bus. Don't judge.

She waited patiently at the stop for the bus with all the other passengers. She got a couple of odd stares from the people. She was confused. Was it her outfit? Did she have food in her teeth? An old man hobbled over and took the cigarette he was smoking out his mouth. She stared up at him awkwardly.

"Little girl," he started, placing his hand on her shoulder, "don't you think you're a little bit young to be going pretty much across the country by yourself? This is the bus to New York not to the barbie store, dear."

Anger grew inside of her. She refused to tolerate this guy treating her as a good for nothing pretty princess. She glared at him before pushing his hand off her shoulder and stood up.

"Listen! I am not a little girl, nor am I a damsel in distress so leave me alone and mind your own business!" She shouted. The man smirked and stuck his cigarette back into his mouth before walking off to the bench a few feet away. She rolled her eyes and sat back down moments later the bus arrived.

She climbed up after a woman with a toddler in her arms and took a seat near the front. She placed her backpack down in hopes she wouldn't have to share the seat with some random stranger. Luckily there weren't that many people meaning she could have the seat to herself.

About an hour later, the sky turned dark and the lights built into the roof of the bus flickered on. She wasn't exactly sure what she was doing. All She remembered was creating a plan to go to New York the night before.

She slammed the door and stormed up to her bedroom. She was absolutely DONE with her parents. Forcing her to dress nicely, attend formal dinners, and even forcing her into a relationship she most definitely did not want. She grabbed her backpack from her closet and stuffed her most casual clothes in it. Which wasn't very much. She would have to get some more whenever she got the chance. She took her hoodie and stuffed it with all the other clothes. Tiptoeing, she walked to her parents room. She dug through the drawer of her mother's nightstand until she found what she was searching for. Her wallet. She heard the doorknob turn and quickly dodged under the canopy bed just as her parents waltzed in. She could see her mother's heels on the ground followed by her dad's dress shoes.

The bed creaked as her parents sat down on it. Astra brushed a curl out of her face and tried to resist a sneeze. It was dusty under the bed. Overhead, she could hear her parents talking.

"So this Finishing school is really happening?" she heard her father ask. What! Finishing school? What were they talking about?

"Yes, George. I already have her signed up. She leaves in a week."

"Darling, don't you think that's a bit early. We haven't even told her yet."

"Well she needs to learn her place! She can't keep misbehaving and speaking out of place. Not to mention her etiquette! It's horrid! Even Mrs. April couldn't get through to her! It needs to be done."

"Yes but darling, what about her friends?" Astra glared at the mention of her so-called friends. She hated them. They once suggested that they go explore an abandoned house and then abandoned HER to die. Well maybe die would be an exaggeration but they left her alone and scared.

"You wouldn't want her to leave them." her father continued. Actually maybe she would like to leave them, maybe finishing school wasn't so bad. 'No! Bad Astra!' She chided herself. 'Finishing school is bad. You already have a plan.

Her mother interrupted her thoughts,"Please! Friends? Have you even heard her talk about those demons? Proves who's the better parent."

Astra resisted the urge to jump out of her hiding spot and present a powerpoint presentation of why that sentence is highly incorrect. Neither of them are the good parents.

She waited until her parents left before exiting the room. She breathed a sigh of relief that she didn't even know she was holding and escaped to her room
