ch 5: New bad news

hello. It's been a long time; I've only decided to update because some people asked (thank you! it made me happy) 

I actually would like to believe I've become a better writer than this fanfic from almost more than a year ago, but since I pre-wrote all the chapters, might as well publish right?

NEJI

Today, Lee and Neji were supposed to give the newcomer a tour of the village. Too many strange things had been happening in the past day.

As Neji got ready for the day, he recalled all the odd things. What had been wrong with the newcomer that she couldn't share her name? He remembered her innocently asking Guy Sensei if they trained and if she could do the tour later. Why would she want to know if they trained? And what was wrong with doing the tour?

Then at the training grounds yesterday, the most peculiar thing had happen. Neji had been hit in his blindspot. The only thing there was the squirrel and he knew for a fact that the squirrel couldn't have struck him perfectly in the blindspot. Only someone with the knowledge of where it was could've done it.

Things were not adding up and this frustrated the Hyuga prodigy. He liked to get straight to the point and he liked facts. To him, you either knew or you didn't. He did not like to follow up on a mystery and be led on. And this mysterious behavior of a newcomer with no name made Neji more frustrated. He wanted to know who the heck she was and what she was hiding.

TENTEN

"Ohayōgozaimasu, spring flower!" Lee was sure that politeness and manners were sure to start off a good friendship.

"Ohayō, Lee." Tenten had slept early and woke up before sunrise to train. She practiced her summoning scrolls and weapon throwing.

And so the tour had begun. Neji and Lee had walked her around the village, they passed through the streets and houses.

"Ohayō, Sakura-chan, Ino-chan!"

"Ohayō, Lee-san!"

Lee waved to two young girls around their age. One had short pink hair and the other had long blond hair.

"That's Ino-chan and the pink haired one is Sakura-chan! Isn't she stunning?" Lee exclaimed to Tenten as they started walking away.

Tenten had not know of Sakura and Ino, as Lee explained, they were a year younger than him, Neji, and Tenten. Tenten had not known any of the younger classmen from the academy.

"Ino's family runs the Yamanaka flower shop." Neji didn't make eye contact.

For brunch, the three stopped by Ichiraku.

"Bushy brows!"

"Ohayō Naruto-kun!"

"Nē! Nē! Who are you?" The blond boy with blue eyes asked.

Tenten only knew who Naruto was because of the nine tailed fox.

"I'm new here, my parents are here for a mission so i moved with them."

"From where?"

"Kusa, village of the hidden grass."

The conversation shifted to Lee and Naruto. And Tenten and Neji were left in their own awkward silence.

Tenten could feel Neji's hard gaze as he watched her questionly.

After a few minutes, Tenten couldn't handle it.

"Is there a problem?" Tenten had asked as Neji stared at her from the corner of his eye.

"What is your name?"

Tenten had not been expecting that and her mind was racing to decide on something, anything to say.

"I thought I told you already." A terribly lame effort to stall for time. She could lie about what her name was but she knew Neji would probably catch her, thus leading to more suspicion.

"No, you didn't yet."

"No?"

"No."

"Odd, I thought I di-"

"Neji! Spring flower! We should finish the tour at the Hokage's tower!" Lee exclaimed, pulling at their arms.

Tenten was more than relieved and started asking Lee questions about the Hokage's tower just to be in a conversation so Neji wouldn't have to talk to her.

When they had finally arrived at the Hokage's tower, Guy was waiting there. He looked very nervous and was fidgeting with his fingers.

"Guy Sensei! We're close to finishing the tour, I was just telling our newcomer about the Hokage's tower!" Lee began to walk Tenten and Neji up the stairs to the tower when Guy Sensei stopped him.

"Chottomatte, Lee. . ."

"Guy Sensei?"

Neji and Tenten turned around, curious.

"Youthful flower. . . On the mission. . you're parent's were killed. . Gomen'nasai. ."
