I quickly dried off and put on the clothes Matt had given me. I had made my decision which is to have Matt drive me home. I wrapped my towel around my head and headed out of the bathroom.
Matthew was slightly snoring as he laid on the bed, fast asleep. I threw the duffel bag at him and he shot up.
"I need you to take me home." I stated boldly, crossing my arms over my chest.
"Whit you can't-"
"I can go home. This counts as kidnap right now. My dad is looking for me. Take me home."
"He is still there. I can't let you get hurt. Not again. Please Whitney you need to listen to me. It's not safe there." He looked me dead in the eye. I thought about what he was saying and I know that he was totally telling the truth.
"We still need to go back. I need to see my dad, call my mom, see if my boyfriend is okay, see if my best friends are okay, get some money, get my own clothes, make my friends come with us, make up a lie so that I can leave home, may I continue?" I ranted. Matthew closed his eyes tightly then pinched the bridge of his nose tightly.
"We will go back. But we can't stay there." He spat. I know that he was uncomfortable with this situation but I needed to get stuff, see people, jump back into reality.
"Thanks. Your so kind." I sarcastically remarked and slipped on my tennis shoes. Matthew got up from the bed, his tall figure scrambling around the room trying to gather all of the items that were once packed away neatly in the duffel bag. I just patiently watched him walk around the room until he was done.
"Can you take this out to the car? I am going to sign us out." He handed me the duffel bag and the keys. I shuffled out of the room and soon I was outside where the sun was hidden by dark clouds. I could tell it was about to rain so I quickly threw the duffel bag in the back seat and got in the drivers seat where I started the car. Matt came out of the motel with a worried look in his eyes. As soon as he saw me in the drivers seat the look increased.
Matt was teaching me how to drive 2 years ago and I was horrible. I would always step on the gas and the break way to fast making us jerk back and fourth.
"Whit let me drive." Matthew groaned as I rolled down the window.
"No. I'm driving." I protested.
"You almost killed us last time." He whined.
"Matt that was 2 years ago." I sighed and shook my head. I buckled up and Matt groaned, knowing he lost. He slugged over to the passenger side of the car and got in slowly.
As soon as he shut the door I started to back up. I thought it was funny, yet insulting that Matt looked like he was about to throw up as he gripped the door.
"Matt I'm a good driver. Sean taught me." I smiled at the memory.
-
Everything looked familiar now. Hours passed of silence in the car. Matt occasionally made small talk but that was about it.
"I need to go see Shawn first." I mumbled as I turned into our subdivision.
"How long is that going to take?" He scoffed. I glared at him through my eyelashes and shook my head.
"Don't worry about it. He is my boyfriend who probably thinks I'm dead." I snapped. Matt didn't say another word after that. As soon as I got on Shawn's street I began to feel nervous.
Was he okay? Was he alive? I felt sick with all of the questions. I pulled into his driveway where no cars were parked. I unbuckled my seat belt and got out of the car the fast I could. I sprinted up to the door and started knocking rapidly.
And as if on cue Shawn opened the door and he screamed.
