continuing JoyRene's story
Sooyoung was lying in her bed. She wasn't doing anything in particular, sorting all her thoughts while fiddling with the sleeves of the hoodie that Joohyun gave her. She didn't understand, she's supposed to be laughing with her best friend, Yerim, as they gossiped about Joohyun. Not in her bed, agonizing at everything and everyone.
She thinks about everything, how Joohyun was kind enough to help her, how she got trapped in the closet with the older basically commanding her (and how much she liked it), and how she's supposed to feel nothing but hatred for Joohyun right now-
Wait, why did she hate Joohyun so much? She tries to recall everything and anything, but nothing came to her mind. She finally realizes, she didn't hate Joohyun because Joohyun has done something to her, it's because Joohyun has done nothing for her. She realizes that she has been calling someone, who she didn't even know anything about, her arch nemesis, just because she was jealous that she didn't get attention from her.
Sooyoung feels ashamed and disgusted at herself. She couldn't believe she thought that. She couldn't believe it too her this long to realize she thought that.
Now she understands why Joohyun called her disgusting. Tears threatening to slip out as the girl recalls Joohyun's hurtful words. She tried to make excuses for what happened, because the truth is, she haven't got any. She broke the boy's heart just because she could.
She looked to her left, where her pink pencil case rested on her table. "Joohyun was wearing a pink jacket today, with a cute bunny on it." She pinched herself, trying (and failing) to not think about Joohyun. It seems like everything reminds her of Joohyun.
She looked through her phone, she opened instagram out of habit and scrolled through the posts. After mindlessly scrolling and liking posts, she stoped at a picture of a lavender. "Joohyun uses a lavender scented perfume..." she thought to herself.
She abruptly sat up and dials a familiar number. After a while of debating whether or not this was a good idea, she finally pressed the 'call' button. Putting the phone next to her ear, she sighed in relief as she heard the familiar yet soothing voice.
"Hey Sooyoung!" Seungwan beamed, the younger could practically hear her sister's smile through the phone.
-
Seungwan was Sooyoung's older sister, her sister who fought her bullies in middle school, her sister who lends her her shoulder when she was balling her eyes out, her sister who was her emotional support.
Basically, Seungwan was very important to Sooyoung. After all, she was the only family member she has after their parents left them.
She always admired the short blonde. Even though she was only a few years older (Sooyoung was 13, Seungwan was 15), the girl managed to get a job to support her and her sister, if that wasn't amazing enough, she still kept up her straight As, which landed her a full scholarship straight to Harvard.
Sooyoung smiled as she reminisces. She loved her sister (not in that way ofc), she had gone through so much for the girl. Even if their parents left them to live on their own, she didn't think for a moment that she wanted to be born into any other circumstances. She loved Seungwan, so, so much.
...
"Hey. Am I bothering you?" Sooyoung asked, she knew how tough it must be studying Political Science in Harvard.
"No no it's alright. Seulgi and I were just drinking. Wanna say hi?" She asked, just when Sooyoung was going to say something, Seulgi pops up on to the screen with her signature bear smile.
"Hii Soooooyoungg!!" the youngest could tell that she was drunk by the way she dragged out her words.
"Hey Seulgi! How are you!" Sooyoung asked, even though they have never met in real life, they have become pretty close friends in the past year.
"Sooyoungiieee i misss youu!!" Seulgi pouted.
She chuckled at her older friend, "We have never met, Seulbear, you can't miss me if we haven't met."
Seulgi groaned and was about to say something when Seungwan snatched the phone. "So what do ya need?"
The blonde heard her sister sighing through the phone, "What's wrong?" her voice was laced with worry.
"Seungwan.. you know Joohyun right?" Sooyoung didn't know how to approach the topic, so she chose to beat around the bush.
"Uh. The one who everyone calls the princess of the school? Yeah I know her, she was a year below me." she heard her sister sigh again.
-
Sooyoung told Seungwan (and Seulgi) everything. About her nemessis. About Sungjae. About the juice incident and she admits that liked Joohyun a bit more than she should.
"I just don't know what to do.." She sighed for the nth time.
" Maybe try to talk to Joohyun again?" Seungwan was genuinely trying to help, but her sister was too scared to talk to her crush again.
"Well.." Seulgi interrupted them, mouth full of chicken, "Wou can awways just, w'know, apowogide to Shungchae, shee how he weact, then tawk to Choohun."
Seungwan chuckled at her cute friend, "No talking if your mouth is full, Seulgibear."
The youngest paused for a while, "Yeah that's a good idea." the friends were a bit surprised, they didn't expect Sooyoung to actually apologize to anyone, much less a boy.
"Wow only a day and you're whipped!" she heard her sister and her friend laugh on the other line.
"Hey! That's not true!" she shouted at her older friends.
"We're just joking, kiddo," Seungwan chuckled, "Well we gotta go now. Good luck!"
"Bye, and thanks." she heard a click, followed by silence, "I'm gonna need it"
