There were beer bottles strewn all over the lawn with people in clusters sitting around either making out or casually talking. Actually, only the majestic, disapproving looking boxwood figure which was sat enthroned in the middle of this mess reminded of the hours of work the gardeners had put into the appearance of the former impressive garden.
The blustering beats, coming out of the luxurious mansion had the potential of keeping residents in the locality of four kilometers awake. But the neighbours wouldn't dare to complain. Not since the host of this house party was nobody else than the daughter of the richest CEO in Korea.
The named business man was, as always, not at home, leaving his pretty but spoiled and rebellious daughter, again as always, by herself. Free to do whatever she wanted. Back then, the neighbours felt kind of bad for the little girl who was growing up with her father's love replaced with endless wealth and money but after a while, they realized, the former sweet, little girl had turned into a spoiled brat. That was the instant of time where the neighbours realized, the girl did not deserve their pity anymore.
Whatever, back to the party. The room inside the mansion was hot, the smell of alcohol ubiquitous. People were dancing and having fun. Chou Tzuyu had already lost count of how many there were but she clearly didn't care. Quite the contrary to be honest. She was proud of herself for creating such a fun atmosphere even though bigger crowds always tended to make her uncomfortable.
"Hey Tzu. Nice party!" A guy mouthed towards her before dragging his girlfriend into one of the contiguous rooms. Tzuyu smiled and waved at them, not able to respond in a more talkative way because of the loud music.
Walking with a spring in her steps around, she observed the living room, looking out for someone she knew until her eyes found a short girl who was happily dancing. "Dubu!" the brunette shouted towards her, hoping her friend might wanted to bear her company outside. As Tzuyu received no answer, she simply shrugged, leaving the living room for getting some fresh air.
The weather was mild and nice outside. With a proud expression in her eyes, she watched the scene happening in the garden, narrowly avoiding meeting eyes with the boxwood figure. This tree was her father's biggest proud and Tzuyu felt kind of strictly observed by it.
Shuddering, her fingers grope for a cigarette and a lighter in her pocket. She drags once or twice, inhaling the smoke of her cigarette, then slowly letting it out, allowing it to dissolve into the likeable air. She enjoyed the sight and the feeling in her lungs until her cigarette got snatched away by an older girl with wavy hair.
"How often do I have to tell you that smoking is bad for your health?" Without wanting to, Tzuyu had to smile. Jihyo was the only person who had ever acted like a parent towards her and she was thankful to have the latter as her best friend.
But on the other hand, she was clearly old enough to decide what was healthy and what was not by herself. Tzuyu watched sadly how her friend dropped the still smoldering cigarette on the floor and stepped on it.
"I brought you a drink." Jihyo smiled cutely as if she wanted to apologize for stopping the youngers smoking behavior for a minute.
"Thank you, but isn't drinking bad for my health too?" Tzuyu answered smirking, clearly provoking her friend.
"You know what? I don't care today." Before the taller one was able to lead the conversation towards her cigarette again which was sadly annealed laying on the ground, Jihyo gave her a cup, filled with a mixture of vodka and passion fruit juice, mostly vodka, and nudged the younger's side. Tzuyu smirked again, knowing that she won this argument. Then, she took a sip of the sweet liquid in satisfaction.
"What I actually wanted to say-" Jihyo got interrupted by screams and laughing, coming from the middle of the former pretty arranged garden.
The girls turned around, being greeted by a burning boxwood figure. It still somehow managed to stare disapprovingly at the house owner's daughter who suddenly turned pale. She never liked this ugly tree but she knew that her father would be more than angry if he came back from his business travel, finding his most loved plant from his even more loved garden totally burned.
Somehow, Tzuyu thought, the CEO might care more about the yard than about his own daughter. Idly, she stared at the happening. Meanwhile, the leaves were already fully burned and fell down as ash onto the ground. There was nothing to see of the former majestic looking boxwood figure anymore.
That was the moment when the party went out of control. As the shocked young woman turned around, facing the house entry the fact how destroyed it already looked leaped out to her immediately.
Not only were the walls suddenly decorated with black letterings that spread like weeds over the floor but also expensive plates, glasses and vases laid as broken fragments on the carpet and parquet floor.
"Tzu? How are you going to explain this mess?" Jihyo's voice sounded accusingly but worried.
The addressed young woman was not sure how she would excuse the increasing chaos but the façade of her unbothered facial expression and her steady posture radiated as if she didn't give a shit about what was happening to her house. In a smooth movement, she saved her frowningly barking, purse-sized dog from a toppling over bottle of alcohol. "Well, we'll see."
