Sirius rode down the motorway, his bike speeding in between cars, the headlights going crazy. He pulled into a small, vacant allyway and triggered the flying aspect of the car, switching the headlights off and headed for Godrics Hollow.
He was told by Remus that his very pregnant wife had gone to save Lily and James after finding out that Peter had betrayed them and he didn't want to leave her by herself. So he left his daughter, Venus, with her godfather to find his wife.
The rain slashed down on his face, making it hard to see but he didn't care. He dived into the street that James and Lily lived and ran into their house, automatically noticing the damage done. The front door was left open, baby toys directly under his feet. There were holes in the walls from where spells had been deflected and there was a trail of blood. He followed it to the stairs where he was met with a body.
The cold, pale body of brother James. Eyes wide open, wand laying in a limp hand.
But the blood kept going.
He took a minute to recollect his thoughts before stepping over his best friends arm and following the blood, praying it wasn't his wife but was quickly disappointed. Laying in the doorway of baby Harry's room lay Alyson, arms in front of her face, her dirty blonde hair matted, her once bright green eyes now dull and unseeing. He let out a sob, crouching down and holding his wife, the body of Lily inches away. He cried for James, he cried for Lily, he cried for Alyson and he cried for the crying baby in the cot who would grow up to never meet his parents.
After a brief moment, he kissed his wife on the head, closing her eyes. He slipped her wand into his pocket, sniffling. The wand that the woman treasured since he met her back when they were 11. The wand she wanted to show her daughter one day when she was old enough to understand magic.
He picked up Harry, bundling him up in some blankets, his thumb tracing gently over the new lighting bolt shaped scar on his forehead.
"I'm sorry." He whispered to the baby. He sent one last glance to both women and one to James when he passed him on the stairs. He held the baby in his usual leather jacket as to not get Harry sick. When he stepped out into the rain, a large figure appeared in front of him and just has Sirius was about to pull out his wand, it spoke.
"Dumbledore wants Harry, Sirius." It was Hagrid, the half giant who worked at Hogwarts.
"Please Hagrid.. He can come live with me or Remus. I'll raise him alongside Venus." Sirius begged the man. The giant shook his head sorrowfully.
"Dumbledores ordered Sirius. I can't." His gruff voice almost broke as he felt for the man. Sirius gave in, handing the baby over, along with some keys.
"Take the motorcycle. I have no use for it now." He said. Hagrid nodded. "Oh and Hagrid. Can you please drop these off at Remus' house. Tell him they're from me." He handed the half giant the jacket and his wife's wand.
"Of course Sirius. Thank you."
"No problem."

There were four loud raps on the door of Remus Lupins house. The man put the baby in her playpen and checked through the peephole of his door before answering. A soaked Hagrid stood in front of him. The werewolf ushered the half giant in, using a spell to dry him off so he didn't get everywhere wet.
"How can I help Hagrid?"
"You might need to sit down for this." The werewolf complied, bring the baby girl into his lap. "I'm sorry Remus, but Alyson, James and Lily are dead." Remus felt his heart stop. His friends.. Dead. "And Sirius has been sentenced to Azkaban after he blew up Peter and killed 12 muggles." He froze. He stopped himself from crying to stay strong for the girl sat cooing in his lap.
"What about Harry?" Was the mans response.
"Dumbledore sent him to live with his aunt and uncle." Hagrid nodded.
"And Venus? Where's she going?"
"She's staying with you. She's safer with you."
"Hagrid.. I'm a werewolf. I could kill her."
"McGonagall can send other order members to look after her while she's young. After that, she can be left alone and when she goes to Hogwarts, it'll be easier." Hagrid explained. Remus nodded.
"Thank you Hagrid." He said quietly, in thought.
"I'll be going. Take good care of this little one. If you need anything, owl Dumbledore." He nodded before leaving. As soon as the door shut the werewolf crumpled, sobbing as he clutched his goddaughter in his arms.
"What do I do Venus.. Your mums dead and your dad's in Azkaban. James and Lily are dead.. Peters dead. I'm all alone. I'm alone and stuck with you." He cried. Venus just cooed, reaching her hand up to touch his wet face.
Remus knew he had to protect this young girl from the horrors in this ugly world. Its what Alyson would've wanted.
