This endangered animal is also the second largest creature on Earth, second only to the blue whale, it's the African elephant. African elephants, while not quite as endangered as some of the others in this book, are still very much endangered. While their population may not seem that low at approximately 400,000, that number is dropping fast, with approximately 20,000 elephants dying every year. That means that if this keeps up, then by my calculations, we will only have until around the year 2041 before the African elephant goes extinct. (Please correct me if I'm wrong about that number btw.) The reason why they are dying at such an alarming rate is a combination of poachers hunting them for their skin, meat, and their ivory tusks, and because of bacteria and diseases enhanced by climate change.

Endangered Species
Non-FictionA book to raise awareness of some lesser known endangered species. Unfortunately, will more than likely be updated often. Edit: Between school and other things, I probably won't be updating as much as I wish I could. I am also doing as much research...
