1 week later when she got home from her walk with Basil. Her mother approached her with a letter in her hands and told Athena to sit down.

"So this letter came in for you" explained Martha handing the letter to her daughter.

The letter was from a man named Albus Dumbledore which none of them knew.

The letter said:

Miss A. Willis,                                                                                                                                                                     The room in the basement                                             11, Privet Drive                                                              Little Whinging                                                                    Surrey

"Well then, open it!" exclaimed her mother.

She opened the letter slowly trying not to break it and read it out loud.

                     "Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Dear Miss Willis,                                                                                                                                                                                                      We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment.

Terms begin on 1 September. We await your owl by no later than 31 July.

Minerva McGonagall                                              Deputy Headmistress" 

                 

"Owl? Is this a joke?!" said Athena.

Martha was as confused as her daughter. She thought it was a letter from the school Athena had originally applied to. They sat in silence until the front door opened and Basil started barking. An old, thin lady with gray hair tied into a bun at the back of her head walked in the living room and sat down in the chair next to Athena's Mom.

" Sorry for just walking in. Minerva McGonagall." the old lady introduced herself.

" S-so your the lady who sent the note," asked Athena.

"Yes. But I asked Hagrid to bring it to you personally. As he often does he forgot. So I'm here to explain everything." explained McGonagall.

Athena and her Mother listened carefully as Minerva McGonagall explained about how wizards exist and that Athena was indeed one but she was muggle-born.

" I'm sorry. Muggle-born?" questioned Her Mother

" Oh yes. Muggle means non-magical people. And it is possible for witches and wizards to be born with muggle parents." said the witch

She continued to explain Hogwarts and how she will be able to come back for Christmas but it is not obliged. McGonagall told them everything about Hogwarts and the wizarding world.

"If you would like Mrs. Willis I could get Hagrid to go buy your things I would just need 100$ in muggle money." said the lady

"Um sure do whatever you want " her mom was in shock.

" Excellent! you will need this for your ride to Hogwarts. Kings cross platform 9 3/4. I will see you at Hogwarts." said McGonagall handing Athena a ticket for the Hogwarts Express.
