The White Crane of the Sakura Empire

Chapter one

Note that I will use commander and (y/n) interchangeably

3rd person POV

It was late at night, (y/n) was in his office finishing what used to be four days worth of paperwork, was now about to be done within less than a day. This meant that he now had free time for the next few days. Exhausted, he stood up from his chair and began to walk out of his office until he heard what sounded like a flute. Unsure of what it was or where it was coming from, he set off to find it, rather than getting some much needed rest.

(y/n) POV

Y/N: If I could just find where I heard that song being played.

I was hesitant at first, this is definitely the direction in which I heard that song but this path leads towards the Sakura Empire's dorms. While I am on fairly good terms with the girls there, a few of them can be a bit clingy. And I'm a bit too tired to have to deal with that right now. Regardless, I have to know where that song came from.

As I was walking through, giving my greetings to those who were still awake, I was fortunate enough to hear the song again. Following the noise I came across a shallow lake with cherry blossom trees surrounding it. And in the middle was a girl with white hair that had a red and white hair ornament attached to it. The girl, if I'm correct was Shoukaku. I had only ever spoken to her once when I met her and I can't recall ever having a conversation with her.

In the middle of my gawking I didn't realize that she had taken notice of my presence and was now making her way towards me.

Shoukaku: Hello commander. She said with a smile
Y/N: Huh? Oh hi sorry I didn't mean to stare like that, it was just such a pretty song. I said while blushing fairly hard

Shoukaku: Thank you commander, I'm glad you enjoyed it~

We talked for hours sharing with each other about a plethora of different things not paying attention to how late it was getting.

Y/N: may I ask where you learned to play like that?

Shoukaku: I am self taught, I always took a liking towards the flute from an early age.

Y/N: impressive, well, I'll stop bothering you now, it's getting pretty late anyway and if Belfast finds out I was out so late she'll throw a fit.

Shoukaku: Don't worry commander you weren't bothering me, in fact feel free to come and visit me anytime. I spend most of my time here and I can always play you more music for you if you'd like.

Y/N: That would be amazing, have a good night Shoukaku.

Shoukaku: And to you as well commander.

I walked off content with tonight's events and that I was able to get to know Shoukaku better. I may have even started to take a liking towards her.

—-next day—-

I woke up dreading my morning routine until I realized that I had already finished my work for the next several days. With nothing but time to spare I decided to go visit Shoukaku and ask if she wanted to grab some food and hang out.

Upon reaching the Sakura Empire's dorms I was unfortunately tackled by Akagi as she nuzzled her face against mine.

Akagi: Oh commander it's so great to see you!

Y/N: it's nice to see you too Akagi.

Akagi: What brings you to our dorms do you have business with someone, or perhaps you came here to see me!

Y/N: No I'm not here for business at the moment, I'm actually here to visit Shoukaku.

I could see the anger welling up in Akagi's eyes realizing the mistake I had just made.

Akagi: That tramp, she'll pay for taking the commander away from me.

Akagi was starting to lose it while Kaga came to try calming her sister down. Kaga shot me a 'I'm sorry about her' glance before motioning for me to leave.

I made my way towards the spot we talked at yesterday and found that she wasn't there yet. I decided to wait however, thinking that she hadn't woken up yet, considering it was still pretty early in the morning. I then decided to lay down on the grass and take a nap.

—-time skip—-

I awoke to Shoukaku humming a song while stroking my hair as my head lay on her lap. This of course made me very flustered, which only made Shoukaku giggle.

Y/N: I'm really sorry about that I wasn't expecting to be sleep for so long.

Shoukaku: That's quite alright commander, you seemed rather peaceful laying on my lap. Was it that comfortable?~

My face only grew redder as she giggled at my response.

Y/N: I came to ask if you wanted to grab something to eat with me or we could go to a cafe or a bar since I have nothing to do for the next several days.

Shoukaku: You'd be willing to spend what little free time you have with me? In that case I would be honored to join you.
