Professor Pyg's Hideout
Y/N's POV

"Spells? Incantations? Rituals? Binding circles?" I had found the few words in the book that's were actually in english, and all I know for certain is that this book is insane. Pyg must have been trying to do something strange and dangerous with that blood and bone circle, but does that mean it could actually be used for some kind of good? Like if this magic shit is actually real maybe I can use this stuff to help people? Or at least make an actual name for myself? Something other then just another orphan in Gotham who turned to a life of crime?

I had the book out on the operating table as I stood opposite to Pyg's corpse, his mask now safe and secure in the inner pocket of my vest. I needed proof that I just murdered the bastard and a trophy would do just fine. No no it wasn't murder. It was justice.

How many people had suffered at Pyg's hands? All because he wasn't killed years ago, instead of being thrown behind bars only to break out again? It's the same shit with almost every deranged and dangerous criminal the Bats round up. This city would be less of a cesspit if they just started stacking bodies. Granted I might be among that pile of corpses but hey it's not like anyone would miss me. But still, it's food for thought.

I kept flipping through the pages, looking for anything I could read as I glanced at the circle Pyg had made. If it wasn't human blood then I might have been tempted to try something but there was no way in hell I was taking that risk. I'm not that desperate, at least not yet.

Now if only the person Penguin told me would meet me here would show up then I could get out of this place. I've already been waiting here thirty minutes, so either their lost, or they fell into a conveniently placed barrel of acid!

And then as soon as I stopped mentally rambling about my place in the universe I heard slow heavy footsteps coming down the only flight of stairs into the basement, and since I didn't know if it was the person I've been waiting in or someone else I quickly grabbed the book, shoved it into the other  inner pocket of my vest and hid behind the table, slowly drawing my revolver as a pair of leather boots and a barrel of a gun appeared on the staircase.

And then the man carrying the gun finally came into view as he stepped into the room. Mismatched military gear.......this was the same guy who shot at me or Batwoman. Or both.

All that mattered was that he shot at me just a few hours ago, and as he stopped on the far side of the room and looked around I put my finger on the trigger and got ready for a fight. He was probably a better shot but I had cover......and possibly the element of surprise on my side.

But why was he after me? Yes I've personally pissed off quite of few of the crime lords around the city like Black Mask and Bane but why would that want to waste money taking care of a nobody like me? Especially since all of them seem to be on whatever crazy ass plan Penguin is putting together?

The man looked over at Pyg's still bleeding corpse and then started to scan the room, no doubt looking for my hiding place. "Come on out Y/N. This doesn't have to be difficult..........and it's nothing personal. Just business"

If he's here to kill me then I'd take it VERY personally! He didn't seem to see me just yet, and began to walk towards the table as I clutched my revolver.

"Come on out dammit! I know you're here!"

Before he could get any closer I took aim, dead center at his chest, and pulled the trigger. Like before the recoil kicked against my hand, and the next thing I hard was the man screaming as the bullet slammed into his hip. The rifle fell out of his hands as he crumpled and landed on his non-injured side, clutching at his hip. Blood was already pooling out by the time I rose to my feet. "Why are you after me?!" I demanded to know as I began to walk over, at first he tried to reach for his gun but I ran over and kicked it away and watched it spin as it sailed across the floor. "Who hired you? Answer me!"
