Somewhere in Loguetown, a young woman, about 23 years old, sat on a staircase that overlooked the streets below. She wore a slightly worn out brown duster coat that stopped at the middle of her shins, dark blue jeans, a red flannel shirt over a black tank top, and a pair of black boots. She reached into an old brown fedora that sat at her side and pulled out a small rolled joint and a box of matches. As she placed the joint into her mouth and lit it with the match once it had been dragged against the box's side, she took a deep breath, inhaling the smoke as she slowly felt the contents of the joint begin to work their magic. The stuff found her wasn't anything like back home, but for cannabis that came from another world, it wasn't half bad. Since the plant had been around since ancient times, she could only assume that this world, while still a bit primitive, had modernized the use of the plant just like back home.

As she exhaled and let out a long stream of smoke, she thought back to the day she first arrived in Loguetown.

Loguetown, 3 years ago

Even though she didn't have much to her name, Autumn managed to find work doing odd jobs around the town. Mostly in small stores, the fish market, and occasionally helping with some people unload stuff from the docks. The work was tough, and the pay was small, not to mention the workload was especially taxing with her illnesses, but it was steady. So far, she'd been staying at the inn owned by the man who found her on the streets. He was a nice guy, and even let her have dinner with him and his wife when she couldn't buy any food. Before coming here, Autumn had seen some tough times, and times that made the previously mentioned ones seem like paradise, but her situation right now had them all beat. She knew she had to find a way out of this place AND find her brother. The problem was how?

The answer to that came sooner than she had thought. It was almost a month since she had first started living in Loguetown. She was out buying some groceries when she noticed a big crowd had gathered at the plaza. Curiosity had gotten the best of her, and she decided to follow them. As she got to the plaza, she noticed that a lot of people looked pretty excited.

"What's going on"? She asked aloud.

"They're hosting a contest"! One of the crowd members replied, "They say whoever answers all the questions they have correctly wins a big prize"!

"What's the prize"? Autumn asked.

"They say it's a Devil Fruit! A really special one two"! came the reply.

"What's so special about it"? Autumn asked.

"They say it's one SO rare, it hasn't been found since BEFORE the King of the Pirates first sailed the Grand Line"! came the reply.

Autumn was surprised. Since coming here, she had since refreshed her memory on everything her brother told her about One Piece. From what she remembered, the King of the Pirates had long since been dead by now, and with how many people coveted Devil Fruits, either for their power or their worth on the market, she began to understand why everyone was so excited.

"Hmmm, if this Devil Fruit's as rare as they say, I could probably sell it for a high price, and then I wouldn't have to worry about food or rent for at least the next 3 months", she thought, "I'd even probably have enough for my travel fund".

Aside from surviving, Autumn's first priority since coming here had been to find her brother. Even though there were hundreds of people ahead of her, she knew that this was probably her only chance, and if there was one thing she ever learned from her brother, it was that when life presented an opportunity to you, then grab hold of it and hang on for dear life.
