The Lost And The Found

New Beginnings

It's been a week now. Axel has learned the basics of fighting. Over the week, Axel became 11. One year closer to sword-fight training. Nya had taken him shopping as well so they could choose out some new clothes he could wear.

Axel sat on the floor, looking up at the TV with a controller in hand. Jay was seated next to him. They were playing video games. Zane and Nya were baking cookies in the kitchen as Cole, Kai, and Lloyd watched the other two play Mario cart. Axel was winning.

Zane hadn't scanned Axel for an element since the first time he had. This realization came to his head as he put the pan in the oven and closed it. He looked over to Nya "Nya, I have not scanned Axel yet. Should I scan him now?"

Nya looked up at him "What kind of question is that?"

They both go silent

"Yes!" Nya throws her arms up

Zane nods and walks into the living room, scanning Axel for any resemblance of an element.

Just then, Zane froze up

It's exactly as I expected.

His eyes widened and he turned away, mumbling "Oh no" under his breath.

Nya looked over "Zane? Zane! Zane where are you going?!" She runs after Zane as he runs. The ice master ran down the hallway and into Wu's room, shutting the door and locking it "Master, I-"

Wu looked over "Zane?- What's going on? You don't normally panic like this."

"It's Axel. I scanned him again. His element- It's-"

Wu put it together, causing him to stop in place "Hypnosis."

"Sensei, I'm sorry. If I had known earlier I-"

Wu put his hand up "No. What is in the past is in the past. We keep Axel here and train him. When the time comes that he has to face his family, He will. He'll be ready. We will be ready."

Zane stared, then sighed, calming down "Alright. I will keep an eye on the monitors. Blair might know where he is."

Wu nods "Stay safe. Go and tell everyone."

Zane bows, opening the door and going out to the living room

Nya and the others were in the living room, Nya was telling them what happened "...And then he just ran off! He didn't answer me at all either."

Lloyd looked at Cole, then to Nya "That's unusual of Zane. He usually tells us if he's going somewhere."

Just then, Zane walked in "Everyone," he spoke, everyone turning and looking at him "I scanned Axel again. For his element. I know what it is."

"And..?" Cole urged him on

"It's hypnosis." Zane's heart sank

Along with Axels. "I- What?"

"That sounds interesting," Nya said, "I had no idea hypnosis was an element."

Axel looked around, then to the ground "So I can... hypnotize people..?"

Cole nodded "And make them do what you say!"

Kai thought for a moment "That's really useful."

"How?"

"If we run into some stubborn henchman for a villain, you can hypnotize them and make them open a door or something," Kai explained

Zane nodded "That's not a bad idea. Axel still needs to reach his full potential though."

Kai nods "That's true."

Zane sighed "Time will tell."

There's a long silence, then Axel speaks

"When are you guys gonna teach me how to use a sword?"

"When you're 13," Kai responded

"Aw, c'mon that's in like..." Axel counts on his fingers "2 years!"

Cole rubs his head, laughing "Slow down there buddy."

Axel huffs "Okay okay fine."

—Two Years Later—

It's a quiet day in the bounty. Everyone was lounging around in the living room. Axel was now 13 years old but still hadn't been taught how to use a sword. He sat, staring at his hands, feeling as if he had been missing something. He gasps, snapping "I got it!"

Kai jumps and looks over "Got what?-"
   
"I'm 13!"
   
"And?"
   
"You said you'd teach me how to use a sword when I was 13. And now I'm 13"
   
Jay sits up suddenly "That's why I felt like I was missing something!"

Zane laughs a bit "I have to admit, I forgot too. Shall we get to training? It is only 10 am."

Kai sighs, standing up with everyone else "I guess so. I'll go get the swords."

—During Sword Training...—

Kai and Axel were out on the deck again, lunging at each other at the same time and clanking their swords together. "One, two, three, lunge!" Kai called. Lunge, hit, back, circle, repeat. This went on for a little while. Cole cheered "Hell yeah Axel, you're doing great!"
   
Axel smiled, but Coles cheering distracted him. Kai lunged forward but missed Axel's sword.
   
Axel screamed, dropping his sword and backing up, a hand over his eye
   
Kai and Cole gasped. Kai put his sword down as Cole rushed over to Axel "Axel - Axel!"
   
Axel suddenly felt lightheaded, blood drizzling onto his arm and dripping onto the bounty deck. His skin became pale as he fell backward, only to be caught by Cole.
   
Cole looked at Kai "What the first spinjizu master did you do?!"
   
"I-I didn't mean to hit him! I got distracted"
   
Cole just looked at him, too scared to be angry. He then looked over to Zane who was standing on the steps. The ice ninja didn't need to be told anything to know. He rushed over, yelling behind him "NYA!" he called "GET THE MEDKIT! NOW!"
   
Nya nodded, rushing into the bounty
   
Zane took Axel out of Cole's hands, running inside as well

Cole looked at Kai, glaring "How do you get distracted while training!?"
   
"Your cheering distracted me!" Kai defended himself, putting his hands up
   
"Newsflash: you don't have to look at whatever is making noises!" Cole argued
   
"Oh really?! Does this mean you didn't have to look at Axel 2 years ago because he was crying?!"
   
"Oooh, I'm gonna make YOU cry!" Cole exclaimed, punching his arms together and activating his lava arms
   
Suddenly, Lloyd ran in between them "Cole, Kai, calm down!"
   
Cole growled, "He hurt Axel!"
   
"Kai already said it was an accident. You're sorry, right Kai?"
   
Kai nodded "I didn't mean to hurt him."
   
Lloyd looked back to Cole "See? It was all an accident. Besides, it could've been worse."
   
Cole sighed, deactivating his lava arms "I guess you're right... I'm sorry Kai, I overreacted."
   
"It's alright Cole. I understand why you were angry. Let's go inside and check on him."
   
Cole smiled, stepping inside with Kai and Lloyd.
   
   
Zane had set Axel on the couch and had Nya bandage his left eye - where the sword had struck
   
The nindroid looked over at them "There you are. We have good news"
   
"Tell us," Cole demanded
   
Zane looked back at the sleeping Axel "The sword didn't hit his eye, but did cut into his skin. He's going to have a permanent scar over his left eye"
   
Kai smiled "Hell yeah, scar buddies."
   
Cole shook his head "When will he wake up, doctor Zane?" Cole joked
   
Zane chuckled at his joke "He should wake up when his body decides to wake him up."
   
Cole nodded, then looked at Axel, his expression changing to sorrow
