Prologue

Ren Kouen, many know him, who wouldn't he is someone you can't miss. Many respect him and many fear him but no one knows what he suffers. So many expectations and responsibilities are placed on him. Ren Kouen has raised his younger siblings and younger cousins, he is expected to be smart in everything and is strong to protect and save his empire. You may be wondering how old is Kouen? 17?

Ren Kouen was in fact 8 when all the responsibilities and expectations started. His mother passed away when he was about 4 years old. Kouen's father Koutoku raised him and his siblings alone till he married Gyokuen to help her raise his brothers remaining two children that survived with their mother. Gyokuen never cared for Kouen, his siblings and cousins (A/N: like in the anime) Koutoku tried to raise them but with taking over after his brother passed he never had time so when Kouen turned 8 he told his dad he would do anything to help so he took over caring for his siblings and cousins. Koutoku was surprised but grateful, when he would finish his work as the emperor Koutoku would take over for Kouen with caring for the younger kids. Koutoku would also make sure Kouen was well taken care of and would always tell him to care for himself, Kouen and Koutoku always looked after each other no matter what it was. Kouen's youngest sibling (Help who is it I can't tell) was quite young at the time and would wake up in the night if Koutoku wasn't there or was too exhausted to get up due to his work or such, Kouen would get up instead. Koutoku and Kouen switched who would get up so as to not make the other too exhausted for the next day and what they needed to do.
