Unless commitment is made, there are only promises and hopes... but no plans- Peter F. Drucker

Ryan was in a haste and decided to propose Sophie, but he was afraid of commitment somewhere. He was afraid of losing her and he took the next step. Sophie was shocked to see Ryan proposing her. Though she also dreamt of marrying him but on practical grounds, she knew this will never come true. Dreaming of marrying a movie star and getting married in real is altogether different. She had no idea whether he has all the qualities which she wished to have in a life partner. Sophie has also heard about the rumors of Ryan having affair with her best friend, though they both denied that.

Sophie's POV

Recovering from a shocking state I said, "Let's discuss this before". He sat opposite to me and said "See I know you think I am some psycho who is just proposing you on the second meeting, but then I was following you since a month and I know everything about you. I kept someone to follow you day and night" .

"What" blurted out from my mouth and "and I thought you had my number because of the official purpose. Who the hell gave you the right to follow me" I was angry beyond control? I wanted to run away from that place. "See I know you are mad at me, but understand this, I just felt a connection with you in the first meeting and you also stated that you dreamt of marrying me" He said. "Ryan there is a difference between dreams and reality" I stated and "I want some qualities in my partner and I barely know you. I have heard that you were in a relationship with your best friend" I said.

"That's a rumor and whatever you want to know about, I am ready to tell you" Ryan stated. Sophie want to be out of this situation, she was just confused and said "Ryan you don't know me that well, you don't know what about my likes and dislikes. I hate such big diamonds. I like simple things and I don't want to be under the eye of media. My life should be private, and I love to be independent. I don't want to ever depend on you financially".

Ryan's POV

Ryan was shocked to hear this that she doesn't love big diamonds and she wants financial independence, while he had enough to buy her anything she wished. He just smiles thinking his decision was right because she was not a girl who was after his fame and money. "I am ready for that, I will support you in your career, you can work, and I will get you a ring of your choice". She never thought I will agree to her demands so easily though I will never let her work in any other company, other than mine. But I will convince her later on. "Ryan are you ready for commitment?" she asked, and I was just afraid of this question and I told her "I hate commitments".

Sophie was silent and I was speechless. "When you can't give any commitment, where do you see the future of this. I don't want to be one of your flicks and I want to settle down in my life. I think we are not made for each other" and she was turning to leave the room.

I was afraid. For a second, I couldn't process whatever I was thinking, but as she was about to leave the room, I realized that she is the one and I can't let her go. I ran and stopped her. "See I know and even I want to settle down, I am afraid of commitments, but I can't see my life without you. I want to see my future with you. I want to trust my feelings and I assure you I am not doing this for fun or any sexual pleasures. I mean it". "What if I have a past which you don't know about, I have a broken heart" she said. "I have a past too, but I want to see my future with you, and I don't care about your past. We will mend each other's broken heart and your life will be private. I won't let media touch your life" I said. She was convinced and said "Okay, let's give it a chance and let's be friends first. Let's know about each other more and maybe we will end up as a couple, till this ring will be with you only". I accepted that proposal. We had dinner then, she was getting comfortable around me. She changed her clothes into the official attire, and I dropped her home.

After six months:

We have turned great friends, and this has beenover a month. We meet secretly, go for lunch and dinner, sometimes for movies. She is such a caring person. I have made her met my family and she iseveryone's favorite now. My family loves her. My mother was just happy with mychoice and with ever passing day I was getting sure about my future with her. Ihave met her family too and I think they like me too. But maybe they will behesitant about my proposal because of my age. I have met her mother andconvinced her. She was fine with this relationship then. I proposed her on herbirthday in front of both the families and she finally agreed.

"You hated commitments" she asked and I replied "I hate commitments, but without thatI can't be sure of this relationship and today I give a commitment I willalways be there in all your good times and bad times. I will always love you" Isaid it finally and she just said, "I love you too" and that became the mostmemorable day of my life.
