It wasn't like the words didn't make it into his ears. It wasn't like he forgot how language worked. He just didn't know where his brain stopped all function. Was it at the fact he was on a ship? Space? Was it the fact he had no memory of even getting inside this green lit capsule?
Much of his thought process seemed to revolve around what had just been told to him. He was on a spaceship in the middle of god-knows-where, with no memory of ever getting on it. He was in a tiny capsule following rules on keeping himself identified as, well, himself. Limited times to speak to his family, which he had no idea if they even knew. A lot was going on in his mind as the pressurizing air released him.
And how that stopped his thoughts. His body jerked forwards. He wasn't sure if he was floating, or on the ground, or even standing up. He felt as if his heart was about to leap out of his body through his throat. Cold oxygen was getting into his lungs at such a fast rate. Had he been dead all along inside that thing? Or did he just die? Was he even sure he wasn't losing his mind?
His vision was blurry as he finally began to cough. Suddenly, he felt as if the air was pressing against his spine, forcing him onto the ground. His heart was not leaping out anymore, his stomach had made it to his feet. His ears suddenly popped, causing the white noise to be as loud as an alarm.
"Welcome to Nebule, Taeyong," A robotic and cold voice said.
And it was as if he was never pumping adrenaline at high, almost lethal, rates. His eyes looked up. Reflective. The walls, the floor, the ceiling was a reflective grey material, if it wasn't for the huge window-wall. A void suddenly decorated in stars stared back at him, making him feel sick.
He could feel the cold surface of the floor. After all, he did reach the ground. Nothing much was around but the white capsule lit by a green fluorescent light. He must have been dead if he was not burned in there.
"I'm sure you received the message for all capsule members" The voice continued. Was time going faster? Slower? "All other information will be given in due time. We suggest you take a look around the ship, meet the other crew members and just get familiar with the Nebule. If you have any other questions, I'm always available. All doors and docks have a button to call for me. If that's all, I welcome you again. Taeyong."
Taeyong blinked. And again. And again. What the absolute fuck?
He scrambled his way up his feet as a thick panic made its way through his veins. How did he get here? Was he really in space? What kinda prank was being played on him?
He looked around. Those four walls reflected back to him an image. His hair was purple now. Didn't he dye it dark blue? His clothing was now a white with red accents. Different pieces of fabric in a belt like shape dangling from him. He had a jacket and a pair of pants. White boots and a tight undershirt that seemed almost transparent but opaque and mostly a washed out green.
He definitely didn't own clothes like those.
He shook his head. A dream. A simple dream. A stupid dream. He would wake up and go to the audition for the dance crew, maybe see his friends. All would be normal. But his eyes stared into that void. What if it wasn't fake? What then?
"Hello!" Someone else. Person. Outside. Quick.
Taeyong felt like panic had taken the best of him as he ran towards the door. No button to open, no handle. He frowned. Was he trapped? But a beeping light was flashing onto the ground.
As he reached forwards, he could see something on his wrist. The message had mentioned something on the wrists, right? He put it under the beeping light, the door sliding open as he came to look straight at the stranger. Both shocked at the sudden interaction.
