Once I was out of the house, I looked behind me quickly to memorize every little detail of where I once called home.
A carriage was waiting for me at the front gate. I hastened my pace so the king doesn't notice I was looking back. I enter the carriage sitting in front of the king, twas only the two of us.
I put my hands on my lap and looked down in silence. My parents taught me from when was young, to stay quiet when without a clue on what to do.
The king clears his throat in attempt to grab my attention, I raise my gaze to his eyes slowly.
"This is going to be a very long journey. I will tell you everything there is to know, do you understand?" His tone and gaze are colder than ice, making me want to jump out of the carriage and run back to my childhood home.
"Understood, Your Majesty..."
"I am the king of werewolves. " He stares at me with an emotionless expression. I attempt to control any facial expressions that could anger him.
King of werewolves? Then can I be the princess of elves?
He continues. "I am a werewolf, and you, a mere human." I feel the urge to look away, but I don't give in even though my chest pains from his hurtful words. "Apparently, I have been mated to you, which is a disgrace for me, however there is nothing I can do about it. You are not going to be Queen nor will anyone else. I will rule alone. You are forbidden from leaving the castle without my permission, as well as conversing with any male. You will not distract nor disobey me; do not come to me, I will come to you if I feel like it. Your main purpose is to carry my heirs, other than that you are useless to me."
I look down, hiding the tears that have started to form in my dark brown orbs. This man- no this monster, snatched my heart without me being aware of it. Now he's breaking it just as fast.
"Understood..." I say loud enough for him to hear, my voice on the edge of breaking.
I wish I could go back in time and stop myself from leaving the manor this morning.
We stay in the painful silence. Hours pass painfully slow. Some bumps on the ground cause me to jump out of my seat on impulse, I try my best to be as quiet as possible and return to my previous posture as soon as I can.
The king doesn't utter one word, he just stares out the small space uncovered by the drapes on the window. I can say I'm doing an excellent job of staying quiet, not annoying him.
I can't help but think about what he told me... do werewolves really exist? I have been missing a lot... I never thought that they would be real, I have read a lot about vampires and werewolves but I always thought they didn't exist, had always thought they were fiction... apparently not. I can't convince myself that he's playing with me; all the luxuries and things he has...
I wonder how he threatened my parents... Dad was mad and Mom was depressed. What did he tell them?
The carriage stops abruptly almost making me fall on the King... almost...
"They never understand," the King said angrily before storming out of the carriage.
I can't help but peek through the window to see what happens.
I can feel the blood leave my face as my eyes catch two enormous wolves in a defensive position ready to attack the King. However the king pays no attention to them, he only stares at me with his intimidating look. Not blinking, just staring.
My heart rate increases as I continue to watch, not knowing what is to happen.
One wolf finally moves, propelling himself towards the King. With three long strides he leaps at the King's face only to be stopped by the single arm of Levi. All Levi does is glare at the wolfs form struggling for air, he then throws the wolf towards a tall sycamore tree. The wolf violently crashes into the tree with a thud and a whimper... it doesn't move after the impact.
The other wolf stares at his unconscious comrade, drawing his attention away from the King. Levi moves towards the wolf and before the wolf can know what has happened his throat is slit with three large claw marks left. After that, the King moves to the other wolf and does the same.
I force my gaze away from the window to steady my breathing and heart. I breathe long and slow to calm myself before Levi returns, glancing at my knees so I need not face him.
The King gets into the carriage and seats himself before me as if nothing happened. I keep my gaze down terrified of what is to happen.
If i wasn't scared before, now...
I didn't believe a word he told me before but now... how can a simple man grab a wolf by its throat and hold it in the air? That supernatural force makes me realize he is not mad, perhaps I am losing my sanity fast, maybe my madness is making me see things that are not actually happening at all even though I'm almost one hundred percent sure I am seeing unreal things. I better be extra careful with this man, or werewolf if I am to see old age...
But now the thing is... do I really want to keep living?
