They were complete as they grabbed their breakfast.
Yllisa hadn't slept well because of last night's incident.
"Good morning, Señora." Captain Yoon happily greeted while getting a bite with his pandesal.
Yllisa looked at Captain's direction and smiled plasticly.
'You idiot! You left me alone in the freaking darkness, indecent Captain!'
"Have you slept well?" He asked.
Yllisa didn't put an effort to give any response. She's still mad for leaving her alone last night.
Everyone was quiet and she bet, they were getting the sense of their unusual conversation.
"Are you ready to be my tour guide for today, Señora?" Everyone stopped, mouths gaped and stared at Captain Yoon then stared at Yllisa then back to Captain Yoon.
"W-what's the meaning of this? T-tour guide?" Shocked. Doña Victorina asked confusedly.
"Yes, Doña Victorina. Last nigh---..."
" I initiated to tour him in the city, mom!" Yllisa finished.
She won't let Captain Yoon spilled the awkward moment they had last night. It will be a shame!
"Then, do well, Yllisa. Bring him to the beautiful places here in Majico." Don Eliseo said as he sipped his kapeng barako.
Yllisa nodded disappointingly while in the other side of the table, Captain Yoon smiled triumphantly.
Driving the road of Majico City, Captain Yoon and Yllisa were silent. Only the sound of live engine roaring and their breathing were heard inside the car.
"Where are you going to tour me first, Señora?" Captain Yoon broke the silence.
"In hell." Yllisa muttered.
The Captain quickly darted his eyes to the lady beside him.
"Pardon? H-hell?" He asked. Confused.
Yllisa faced him and gave a glare as a response.
"Oops. Are you going to kill me with that look?"
"Stop here."Yllisa said coldly.
"Huh?"
"I said stop right here!" Captain Yoon immediately stepped on the brake. Their heads bumped back to the head rest.
"Are you going to kill me?!?" Yllisa furiously shouted. She felt dizzy after bumping her head.
"You said to stop!"
"Are you shouting at me?!?"
"You shouted at me first!"
"Stupid Captain!!!"
"S-stupid? Me?" Captain Yoon pointed himself. Yllisa took off her seatbelt, opened the door and went out.
"Bastard!" she shouted as she slammed the door.
Yllisa headed to the plantation of her mother. The Calleja's ranch.
There were lots of farmers who greeted her and Captain Yoon.
They walked until they reached the hill.
"Señora...talk to me...What kind of tour is this? You're not even saying a word...Hey!...Señora!"
In five minutes, they reached the hill top. Captain Yoon had stumbled and fell many times before he reached the pinnacle.
Yllisa laughed silently as she heard the Captain crying in pain.
She heard him sigh beside her. He looked at her and asked, "This is?"
"A hill?" she replied sarcastically.
"Yeah...Obviously...Ha-ha-ha." Captain Yoon took off his hat. He sat on the ground and laid his back to the trunk of Mango tree.
"A good sight, huh. Daebak. Plantation on the north, Calleja's mansion on the east, a wide ricefield on the west, green forest on the south..."he said with a smile.
"...and beside me..." he looked at Yllisa standing.
Her brown hair was dancing as it took by the wind. Her morena skin was highlighted with her yellow floral dress that looked perfect on her.
"...a beautiful Filipina girl."
Yllisa's heart was furiously beating. She felt her blood rushing to her cheeks. She's blushing with the Captain's statement.
Yllisa looked away.
"Uhm. Yeah. This is the entire view of my family's property. She said.
"And you will be the future owner of all these."
"Yeah. But for now, I don't want to think of all those stuffs. I'm still young."
"You're not young anymore. In few months you will be 20, you will be graduating in college by next year and soon, you will be a successful musician."
"H-how did you know?
"I just know."
"Tss."
She seated beside Captain Yoon and spent the afternoon together.
They talked about personal matters and such. Yllisa had never expected to be comfortable in Captain's company. The same with Captain Yoon. He never had a good talk with women like what he had with Yllisa.
They shared parts of them with only few days of being together. Laughter, smiles and memories.
Yllisa joined Captain Yoon in the famous noodles house/pancitan in the city. They went to carnival and rode and played.
They also do lots of road trips around Majico City and took pictures together in every wonderful spots they'd been.
Captain Yoon was amazed by how Filipinos showed their hospitality. They smile a lot too. For him, that's a heart-warming scene but among those thousands of smiles he'd seen, Yllisa's was his favorite.
He never met a woman like her. Smart, dignified, well-cultured, kind-hearted and beautiful. There'll be nothing in this world like what or who Yllisa is. How he wished the time with her would never end.
June 25, 1950
Yllisa accidentally heard the private discussions of the two captain and city officials.
"The North Korea attacked South Korea. There were thousands of deaths and UN leaders are working on it to help South Korea." Don Eliseo explained to his fellows.
Yllisa was eavesdropping.
Korea? War? She stepped back in shock.
Everytime she hears war, memories of World War gropes in her. War means death. Fire bolts, guns and bombs everywhere. It's scary as hell.
"Yllisa!" Her mom's voice awakened her. She hugged her in the instant she saw her.
"There'll be war, Mom. There'll be war again!" she cried.
"Sssh. We will be safe and saved again by our Almighty. Don't be afraid." Her mom comforted her.
June 30, 1950
Yllisa and Captain Yoon were silent for an hour while staring blankly to the vast field of Mercados. They both knew that this would happen, parting ways. But they both never expected that this will be of how they will separate ways.
"I will be returning to South Korea. I will do my duty and responsibility as a captain. I'll defend my land and my people."
She knew it. She knew it perfectly. But why it is so hard to accept the reality?
"I will fight for my country's freedom." Captain's voice was cracking and he's holding his tears back. He held Yllisa's hands and faced her.
"Remember the favors you owe? He asked. She nodded.
"My second favor is..." he cupped her face and said, "...wait for me, Yllisa. Wait for me." He muttered and from then he cried as he felt his heart ached with pain.
No matter how hard he wanted to stay but he couldn't. His mother land was calling him.
He is Captain Yoon Hyun Jae of South Korea.
"I-I will...I will wait. I will wait even if takes forever." She cried as she held his hands.
"Promise me one thing..." she added and he nodded.
"Stay alive."
