Chapter 1 - The journey

I've never seen an airport so full of life with what must be a couple of hundred people running around afraid of missing their flights, eating breakfast and shopping. As for me I'm seated at the airport café trying to eat, but fails miserably since I'm way too nervous and worried that my bag will be shipped to the America or something. For as long as I can remember my life has been all about horses, and I even think my first word was pony as a baby. Anyways I'm not thinking on changing this weird obsession anytime soon and it's the reason why I'm at the airport right now. I'm flying over to Germany to see if I can get a foot in the horse business and prove myself as a great showjumping rider. I got a position as a horse groom, which means that I will take care of the horses and their wellbeing, mock the stalls, feed them and all stuff like that. If I'm lucky and get the chance to ride some of the horses I made myself a promise to show them the potential that I know I possess. Even though I know it's a shitty job with a lot of hard work, you got to start somewhere right?

"Flight 3506 to München, Germany ready to board." The speakers informed.

I grab my bag and leave my tray with untouched food and head to terminal 8.

As I take my seat next to the window I cannot resist to think about all the things I'm leaving behind. My family, my friends, my house and the security of home. I honestly love Sweden and I am planning on coming back in a year or two, but for now I need to focus on the adventure ahead of me and the experience I will gain while being away.

The flight lasted for about three hours and I spent every minute of the trip starring out the window remembering stuff from back home. I especially thought of this one moment when the whole family was gathered around playing board games. What a wonderful time we had, I don't believe I've ever laughed as much as I did that day. I truly hope I can create such memories here too and that the people will be nice.

When I was off the plane my first mission was to find my bag and then meet Mr. Robbie Smith that to me sounds like an old man, perhaps one of the trainers? Which sounds a little weird to me, why would the trainer come and get me at the airport? Maybe it's a family member that I have forgotten about or a cousin or something?

After finding my bag I head towards the exit and look for someone that might look like a Smith. I have no idea what he looks like but I know he's supposed to drive me too Dreamfields Stables. I let my eyes search the crowds when I spot a young man holding a sign with my name on it, Jolene Stridh. I walk towards him hoping I have not mistaken and ask him if he is Mr. Robbie Smith.

"Yes that's me. I presume you are Jolene Stridh?"

The way he pronounced my last name was so funny I could not resist but laugh a little.

"Yes I am" I say still laughing a little bit.

He look down at his feet and back up at me smiling knowing he messed up saying my last name. I wonder if he practiced saying my name on the car ride here.

"Perfect then let's get going. I hope you had a nice flight?"

"Oh yes I did, thank you." I focus my eyes straight forward before turning my glance back at him.

"Since I'm new, may I ask what job do you have at Dreamfields?" I ask shyly.

"I'm a rider, I train the youngsters and prepare them for the bigger classes."

I could not help myself but to feel a little jealousy towards Robbie, I mean he has my dream job for God's sake.

"Oh" I look away and then back at him "That and picking up the newbies" I say trying to be a little funny.

He laughs at my comment. "Yes and that." I can see a glimpse in his eyes still smiling.

We reach the car and he takes my bag and put it in the back and gesture for me to go to the front seat. Not long after he joins me in the car and take his seat behind the wheel and were off. It's in the car when we both are focusing on the road ahead and the country music coming out of the speakers that I realize what a hot and cute guy I will work with starting tomorrow. I mean you cannot deny he's a handsome young man with he's chocolate brown eyes and his blonde long hair. Which makes it even more important for me to keep things friendly and don't let it spoil my chance of become something in this world. Plus I have never had a boyfriend before and I'm not looking for one either.

"I'm sorry but I have to ask, your name sounds really British and so does your accent. Are you from England?" I ask.

"Yes I am, I moved here two years ago to work and train horses. I wanted to see other parts of the world and I knew the horse business was huge here so I thought why not give it a go." He says.

"Since you have stayed here for so long I presume you like it a lot?" I ask.

"Yes, this place have given me more opportunities then I can count, I'm very grateful." He glance at me and back on the road with a smile on his lips.

"That's nice." I smile back at him.

For the rest of the car ride I stare out the window admiring the beautiful nature that is not much different from home. There are a lot of horses and farms around this area and I cannot help myself but to glow a little every time I see one. Robbie seems to notice this change in me every time I see a horse and had no problem commenting on it.

"You really seems to like horses a lot, I can see it in your eyes when you look at them." Robbie says.

I turn my face towards him. "Is it that obvious?" I ask shyly tugging some hair behind my ear.

He smiles at me "Well yes it is, what made you love horses so much?"

"Ever since I was a kid I was very shy and did not make friends easily, so one day my mother brought me to a stable she once rode at and introduced me to horses and I've been stuck ever since."

"That's a lovely little story." He grins.

"Don't mock me it's true." I sound whiny while saying this.

"I'm not mocking you, it's cute. And I don't see how you could have a hard time getting friends."

"Well thank you, and honestly I don't either. But it sure must be something." I try to joke.

"I don't think you will have a hard time finding friends here. We're all practically family." He says

"That sounds good." I get kind of a disappointed for some reason hearing this since I wouldn't mind thinking of having a chance with him, he is hot and for now quite kind as well after all. I know it's silly to think about this now I might hate him in a week or a month, or he could turn out to be a snob or something. And I feel like every time you think like this that's when nothing happens. I try and shake my silly thoughts a side and ask Robbie how much longer it will take to reach the stable.

"It's not long now, five more minutes and we're there."

I nod. Five more minutes of unsteady heartbeats and nerves. Great.
