"Kai!" Shia shouts, shaking him awake. Her voice is incredibly strained, and she's shaking as she moves the Doctor around.
The Doctor groggily looks around before feeling the intense vibrations of the earth below him, shaking intensely. He then immediately picks himself off the ground and looks towards the city.
"The city is rising!" He exclaims, looking around at the sky above.
Now, where the gray clouds once lain, are heavy black clouds, putting the area underneath in a near total darkness.
"The Catastrophe?" Shia and the Doctor shout, both completely taken off guard.
"This area had one only about a year ago!" the Doctor shouts, looking off at the plains to the left of the city. In the ground lies a decently sized dip, which once held a large memento of the previous Catastrophe.
"How did the sensors not pick it up?" Shia asks, looking to the Doctor with fear in her eyes. "The city should've known at least a couple hours in advance!"
"I-I don't know!" Doctor shouts, his voice continually rising. "Perhaps their radar system went under? I can't imagine such an accident occurring though! That's the city's only defense from the Catastrophe, they'd be a fool not to keep it in working order!"
The city continues to rise from the ground, unveiling incredibly large metal structures underneath, built to resemble legs. Underneath the city is a large dirt lain area, all life on top crushed by the city.
"There's no crater or anything underneath the city for the legs to occupy," Shia questions.
"That must be what those two large skyscrapers are there for," the Doctor responds, nervously scratching his chin. "Houses the legs"
"Doctor!" Shia suddenly gasps, covering her mouth. "Morgan!"
The Doctor freezes in place.
"We saved tens of people there! We need to go help them again!" Shia shouts, about to sprint off towards the city.
The Doctor reaches out and grabs her wrist, holding her in place. "There's nothing we can do, Shia."
"Why?!" She shouts, her voice strained. "It doesn't matter if it's dangerous, we need to save them!"
"There's nothing we can do, Shia!" The Doctor shouts back at her, his arm shaking. He stares back at her with remorseful eyes. "What the hell are we going to do against that! We can't even get in the city!"
"We have to try-!"
"There's nothing we can do!"
The two stand there, out of breath as they glare at each other.
"It's exactly as you said Shia! The world needs good people to make it a better place! We are those people! We saved lives and we have many more to save! We try and help those people and we'll lose our own lives too!"
The city takes its first steps, the legs creaking as they struggle to move. Each heavy thud on the ground sends shockwaves through the dirt below them.
Shia starts breaking down, crumbling to the ground with a pained sob.
"Save your tears, Shia," The Doctor says quietly, picking her off the ground. "We need to save our tears for when all hope is lost. But they still have a chance. Believe in our technology."
"...What are their odds of surviving, Kai?" Shia asks quietly, choking back her tears as she looks him in the eye.
"High enough to stop our tears from falling."
