"Hannah! Slappy!" Stine called from downstairs. He was in the kitchen and gathering important papers. "We do not want to be late!"

"Coming, Dad!" Hannah called back. She stuffed the rest of her school supplies in her backpack, swung her backpack over her shoulder, and hurried out of her bedroom and down the steps, careful to not trip. She beat her father to the front door. "I am the first one yet again!"

Stine chuckled as he set his papers and a couple of Goosebumps book in his briefcase. He was happy that he and his daughter had a close relationship. She could be the person that she wanted to be. Not the way that he wrote her out to be. She was not a monster like Slappy or the others. She was as much of a human as him and Champ and her boyfriend Zach.

Not only was Hannah's life getting better, but his new life was just beginning. For too long, he was known as the kid with allergies who was unable to go outside. Nobody in the neighborhood wanted to be his friend. Instead, they picked on him for not being like them.

The author cringed as he locked his briefcase. He remembered all too well what those kids did to him. He would be peering out the window and imagining being outside. Playing with the other kids. Feeling the cool breeze against his face. He was sick of being stuck in the house with no friends.

He took the briefcase by the handle and stormed to the stairs. "Those jerks were messed up in the heads. Bullying someone with allergies," he muttered. "I cannot believe that they picked on me because I was nothing like them." A whoosh of air escaped from his mouth. "Well, I am glad that I did not turn out like them."

He was right. Not only did Stine have a successful career, but he had a daughter and a girlfriend who loved him. The girl that he was seeing was Zach's aunt, Lorraine. When his eyes laid upon her during the invasion on Madison, he knew right then and there that she was the one.

If only Slappy learned to love. Speaking of Slappy...

"You okay, Dad?" Hannah asked.

"I am fine, Hannah," Stine reassured her.

"You were talking to yourself again."

"I know. Talking to yourself is completely normal."

"If you say so."

"I see that you have your backpack. Are you ready?"

"I am, but Slappy is not."

He adjusted his glasses. "I can tell that Slappy is not ready. If he were, he would be standing next to you."

Hannah shook her head. "Realistically, he would be sitting on the couch." She pointed to the living room couch. "Dad, are you sure that it was a good idea to let Slappy out? He wants nothing to do with us and made it perfectly clear that he is devoted to evil. The invasion on Madison. He almost destroyed Sonny and Sarah's family."

"I understand your concern. Heck, I am concerned that he is up to something."

"Then why did you let him out?!"

"Could you shut up?!" Slappy yelled from upstairs. "I cannot concentrate while you and Papa argue like children!"

Hannah frowned. "You are the one acting like the child around here!"

Stine walked towards her. He set his briefcase next to her and patted her shoulder. "Calm down. I will take it from here."

The writer raced up the stairs and noticed that his bedroom door was closed. He figured that Slappy shut it because he had left it open. He pressed his ear against the door, listening for anything out of the ordinary. Besides the talking puppet. He could hear Slappy's voice and what sounded like gunshots.

"Sorry," the puppet apologized. "Just kidding. I am not sorry. I am never sorry! Hahaha! Yeah. That was my idiot sister. She is super annoying. If Papa can make a bride for Zach, then why not me? What did I do to not deserve a bride?"

Stine was furious. Slappy knew very well why he could not have a bride. He would treat her like a slave and force her to have children. Stine shuddered at the thought of Slappy having lots of daughters and sons. No, no. One Slappy was enough. He did not need to multiply. He could not be trusted with a bride.

Stine was going to knock on the door, but did not feel like it. That was his room after all. His house! He gripped the doorknob and swung open the door. The puppet was startled, but quickly ignored him and continued what he was doing.

Stine stepped into the room and rested his hands on his waist. He stared intently at his creation. Slappy was sitting on the bed and had his glassy eyes glued to the television. He wore headphones and had a controller in his wooden hands. He was occupied with a shooting game and talking to people who were also playing said game.

"Slappy, take off the headphones," Stine ordered. "And put the controller on the nightstand."

"If I leave it on the nightstand, Papa, how will it get charged?"

"That is my point. It will not be charged by the time that we return from school because you will not play any more video games for the rest of the day."

Slappy yanked off the headphones and paused the game. "Why do I even have to go to school? I am a monster. I know everything that is to know about life."

Stine smirked. "I highly doubt it."

"I know how to do algebra. I know how to properly speak."

"'Properly speak'? You do not even know how to talk to a lady."

"Not my fault. All the women that I have seen are pretty. Pretty ugly! Hahaha!"

Stine rolled his eyes. "You will treat my new student with respect."

Slappy stopped laughing. "You have a new student?"
