Daren is seen in his last performance before having to leave the kingdom for his diplomatic ventures. He has long since mastered the art of replicating people using inanimate objects and is currently making copies of the servants, which were indiscernible from the actual servants. They were dancing in the moonlight to a jolly jig that he is currently playing with his newly acquired instrument, which he dubbed, the accordion.

It was a unique instrument designed by the prince himself. A little more than a month ago, he was playing around in his room, trying to make different sounds to entertain himself. He tried all of the other instruments, but nothing was really striking a chord with him.

He blew a raspberry in exasperation and boredom. His eyes lit up as he held the raspberry. He has never seen nor heard of an instrument that makes music by using air to vibrate its "tongue." So he immediately got to work on his instrument, starting with the "tongue."

He started by creating small, thin, wooden blocks of different sizes with a slit in the middle longways to let air through. As for the "tongue" that will sit above each slit, he decided to make it out of thin steel, as he wanted a different sound than the other woodwind instruments.

He then blew wind through each of the blocks using his magic, each making a different pitch. But something was off. It didn't have the rich, powerful sound he was hoping for. He thought about it for a moment, then clapped his hands together as he figured out the answer: There was no empty chamber for the sound to show its true colors.

So he formed two hollow boxes to hold the blocks. Then he got stumped on how to get the air flowing through the blocks. Aha! He would incorporate a bellow-like design into it, allowing him to pull and squeeze it to make music. He encased the two boxes inside two separate pieces of black ceramic and connected the two with a bellow.

The next problem is figuring out where to put the air valve and how to get individual sounds. He then decided to make buttons that allow the air to flow through one specific block to get the desired pitch on the right side. He then consulted with a musician who plays the harpsichord about the subject of chords, to which he designed each button on the left side of his instrument to play a unique chord. Finally, it was ready to play.

He spent a good part of the month practicing and composing music. He didn't let the others in the castle listen to his music until it was time for him to entertain as the court jester. Family, servants, visiting nobility and royalty were all enchanted by the beautiful music that accompanied his magic. This led to his fame spreading far beyond his kingdom's borders, earning him the title of  'The Laughing Prince.'

When he finished playing his song, he turned the servants' copies back into their original forms and put them in their rightful place. He gazed upon the serene faces of his family, his parents finally relieved from a week's worth of stress. His sisters humming what they could remember from his song, save for Clementine, who was lulled to sleep by his music as always.

He smiled softly and left to his room, lightly skipping as he went. Once in his room, he began to prepare his things for tomorrow's journey. He packed a few sets of the bland clothing that he usually wears, his favorite nightwear, which was as cozy and can be, his accordion, his jester outfit, food that spoils slowly, and the supplies that he will need to write letters to his family.

After Daren was done packing, he went to his bed and closed his eyes, entering into a dreamless rest. He shot awake, excited with the notion of traveling to other kingdoms. Though his bright smile twisted into a gloomy frown once he remembered that he wouldn't see his family for a long time.

He left his room with what he had packed and made his way to the entrance of his home, where his family and servants were waiting for him. His sisters were the first to notice him and rushed over, sobbing as they did. They all hugged him tightly as he hugged back, beginning to cry as well.
