HEYO NEW CHAPTER CHECK ‼️ I DIDN'T GO OVER THIS SO IF THERE ARE ANY GRAMMAR/SPELLING ERRORS I APOLOGIZE

You rushed downstairs to find Garcia already awake and sipping on a cup of coffee. She spotted you and reached down to grab your cup before quickly approaching you. "Good morning!! Here!!"

"Good morning!" You grabbed the cup before giving Garcia a sly smirk, "Hot chocolate?"

"Well of course, I know you don't like coffee! I am your best friend after all." Garcia playfully nudged your shoulder before finally getting a look at your outfit. You had put the quarter-zip that Hotch lent you on once more. "Omg I totally forgot to ask! How was your night???" She wiggled her eyebrows at you as your cheeks heated.

"It was really nice actually." She just about squealed at your admission before pulling you aside as the rest of the team trickled down to the lobby.

"SPILLLLLL!" Was all she said, the excitement apparent in her eyes, which made you giggle.

However, just as you were about to give her a quick rundown, you looked over her shoulder just as Hotch came down the stairs. He spotted you almost immediately, his eyes widening slightly before returning to his neutral expression, (or his 'resting bitch face' as Garcia liked to call it). He nodded at you silently before turning to Rossi and Reid.

"I- I'll tell you later, Pen, we've got a case to finish." She looked over her shoulder to see Hotch and the other men gathered around the coffee table, instantly understanding.

"Of course, we will save the gossip for the plane." She winked at you before she grabbed your arm and dragged you to where the guys were conversing.

Reid, being the genius he is, puts two and two together back at the police station, ultimately narrowing down the investigation to a teen boy by the name of Owen Porter. Garcia, Morgan, and Rossi stayed at the police station while the rest of you headed to the boys house. Upon arrival, Hotch turns to the three of you, explaining the plan. "Reid, you go with the Sheriff and search the house, and y/l/n, you're with me."

Your heart quickened slightly as he stared down at you but you noddded, stealing your nerves as you followed close behind him. Hotch walked up to the front door, swiftly knocking 3 times. A man opens the door as Hotch begins to speak. "Mr. Porter, is your son at home?"

"What's it to you?" The man spats before Hotch shoves him, walking into the man's house. Your eyes widen slightly but you still walk through with him, Reid and the sheriff close behind.

"Turn that off." Hotch demands as he enters the room, the women, (who is most likely the son's mother) stands up quickly from the couch before doing what she is told. As Reid and the Sheriff walk past to search the house, Hotchner speaks again. "Did you know?"

"Don't know what you're talking about." The man replies, Hotch simply glanced over to the man before turning back to the nervous woman in front of him.

"Not for sure, not until last night." Her eyes shift from between your Unit Chief and her husband, obviously frightened. "He came home covered in blood."

Just then the sheriff returns, explaining that their son, Owen, was nowhere to be found.

"It's not the first time you've washed blood out of his clothes is it?"

"Don't answer that, Martha!-"

"Sit down, and shut up." Hotch demands, instantly silencing the man before him. "I promise he will not lay a hand on you again." Hotch raises an arm protectively to shield the woman from her abusive husband. All you can do is watch as the woman continues to explain everything, knowing that she won't be harmed anymore. The protectiveness in Hotch's stance and the tone of his voice spreads a sudden warmth through your entire body, you couldn't stop the small smile that had formed.
