As we passed the 'Welcome to California' sign I let out a frustrated sigh, I let the wind rush through my hair and my earphones blast "Thanks to you" by all time low.
I hate the thought of having to start all over, make new friends, move away from old ones, not to mention that I am the least social person on the planet.
I've had quite a few bad friendships and I guess its been hard to make new friends ever since.
We pulled up at our new house, and it looked exactly like your clique American home, it had two big trees on both sides of the narrow foot path that lead into the house. It had a small veranda out the front and it was two story.
From where I was standing I could easily see a bedroom through the front window of the house.
"I dibs that room", my brother Harrison called from behind me. I looked at him confused as to what room he meant. "The one you have been eyeing for about 1 minute now", he chuckled and I shook my head.
"You can have it, I mean it is hard to not pick the room that people could actually see my getting changed out of but I think I'll manage", I placed a hand over my heart And pulled a sarcastic sad face.
"Well what girl doesn't want to look at these babies?" He flexed his Bicep, and I fake gagged. With that he let out a laugh, thankfully my dad came to the rescue and whacked him upside the head.
I doubled over laughing and soon my dad joined me. "You guys always gang up on me", Harrison complained. "Well someone has to keep your ego under control" my dad chuckled whilst my brother rolled his eyes. We then stood there for a few minutes admiring the house.
That was until the moving truck let out a loud honk breaking the silence.
"Okay well I'll let you kids kill each other for the best room while I start unloading the truck" my dad said as he walked towards the truck chuckling.
My brother and I both looked at each other and then sprinted off into the house.
It was huge on the inside not as big as a mansion, but bigger than you average house. I soon realised that I had been standing there yet again for probably a good 2 minutes, by then my brother would've probably already made it to the room that yes I must admit I had been eyeing just a couple minutes ago.
So I carefully made my way up the stairs making sure not to trip over because God knows how clumsy I am.
When I made it to the top of the stairs successfully I wasn't surprised to see that my brother had already made it to now his own bedroom. So I decided to check out his room for myself.
I walked over to his door and pushed it open to see him standing there with a look of disappointment on his face.
"Something wrong with your new room bro?" I smirked, He turned around "It's too small and doesn't even have its own bathroom I have to use the one next door".
I brought my hands up to my face and pretended as if I were shocked. "Oh no you poor thing, you actually have to walk all the way to the bathroom just outside your room".
He narrowed his eyes at me "Ha ha very funny sis, But you know you will probably have to share the bathroom with me and we all know how much girls love their bathrooms".
"Yes brother but that's where you are wrong. Not saying I don't love a nice long shower but I'm not like most girls". Ok in my head that sounded less clique... really Brooke really.
"I hate you, you know that don't you". He stood there disappointed that his little plan to peeve me off failed miserably. "You love me" I smiled as I opened the door so I could exit the room.
"That's debatable" He replied "So let us have a look at your room shall we", he said as he followed me out of the room.
As we left the room I saw my dad unpacking his clothing into a set of draws the room opposite Harrison's room. "So I see you have claimed this room as your own" I smirked as I looked to my brother to see that he looked mortified, I nudged his arm and he flinched.
"I can't believe you have your own bathroom". Harrison exclaimed as I rolled my eyes "It's called an ensuite, and its dads room also in case you haven't realised you chose that bedroom there" I pointed back to his room, "so tough luck buddy".
My brother looked angry now "Rrrr... I hate you" Harrison yelled then marched back to his room. "1.. 2.. 3" I counted out loud followed by the sound of my frustrated brother slamming his door.
My dad chuckled then made his way over to me "I don't know what I'm going to do with him" my dad said as we both looked to my brothers now closed door.
"Anyway your bedroom is down there" I looked to where my dad was pointing, I ended up looking at a closed door right at the end of the hall.
I picked up my duffle bag and made my way over to the room "thanks dad" I called over my shoulder. When I made it to my door I took in a breath then opened the door.
Then there I was standing there wide eyes looking at an amazing not to mention huge room. I smiled to myself knowing my brother would be furious. I took a moment to register that I finally had not only an ensuite but a walk in wardrobe. "This is awesome" I said to myself.
