I haven't thought I could find such an impressive gateway in my entire life until my mother had to die.

I crouched beside her limp corpse and yanked her head back. With a flick of my wrist, the hunter's knife pierced into the flesh of her throat and decapitated her. I held her mutilated head at an arms length and felt my lips curve into a smile.

As far as I know, my mother was the last member of our coven. With her death came the leadership, falling right into my hands. With every second that passed of her lifeless eyes staring at me, I grew more powerful.

I placed the head on the wooden floor and gathered my supplies from the cupboard. Carefully, I started sprinkling the powdered selenite crystals on the ground till it circled around her head. With a sharp inhale, I closed my eyes and started chanting the spell that I had been learning over the past few years.

I could feel myself getting weaker with every breath. The furniture began to shake rapidly, I felt the ground beneath me sway. As the grimoire had warned, I began to experience a painful migraine. A nosebleed followed.

With the last word, I secured the spell and slowly opened my eyes. I was deprived of vision by a dazzling white light for a moment, when the gateway appeared right before me.

Visions of faded mirrors. Hushed whispers tempting me to enter. Pearly souls with captured memories.

The moment I had been waiting for had arrived. I took a step towards the gateway and my vision began to blur. I was engulfed by smoke and my body began to heat up.

I was ready to become the most powerful being on Earth and cause eternal devastation.
