Narrator's POV
A week after when Mikoto accepts Kuroko's deal, their teacher announces that they will be having their preliminary tests this week.
Kuroko: Misaka?
Mikoto: What? (cold tone)
Kuroko: After this preliminary tests, you and I will be friends. (She said it happily)
Mikoto: In your dreams! I won't let that happen! Cause I'm gonna win! (chuckles)
Kuroko: You're so persistant, I like the attitude.
Mikoto: Tch! How annoying.
As the time goes by, everyone's shocked of Mikoto's being studious. Even their teachers were surpriced when they see Mikoto studying at the library after classes. She's always doing her homework and she's participating during the discussion with the class. And for the record, she's not skipping her classes.
Mikoto's POV
Why the hell am I doing this thing?! Doing this homework sucks! This is all Kuroko's fault after all. She's so annoying! She always tries to comfort me, I don't need her help anyway. I always wanted to be alone. Everyone left me, my dad, my mom, then Touma and Shokuhou used me to get what they want. That's why I choose to have distance with anyone else. Anyway, I agreed with her deal cause if I win this, I want her to stay away from me.
Narrator's POV
By the time Mikoto studies at the library, Kuroko appears besides her.
Kuroko: May I seat besides you?
Mikoto ignores her then she stands up and tries to walk away, but Kuroko grabs her wrist.
Mikoto: What the hell do you want from me?!
Kuroko: I just wanna study with you.
Mikoto: Studying alone is more effective for me.
Kuroko: Fine. (sad look)
Mikoto tries to walk away, but she feels slight guilt towards her. And also all chairs in the library are now occupied by the students. So, she have no choice but to stay.
Kuroko: Are you gonna stay? (smiles happily)
Mikoto: (growls angrily) Do I have a choice?!
Kuroko: Oh, I guess there's no vacant table and seats right at this moment. (teasing tone)
Mikoto: Can you please stop talking to me for a moment! You already distracting me!
Kuroko: Ok sorry.
The two of them are studying in a peaceful manner. Then after an hour, Mikoto decides to leave the library and go to their dorm. Kuroko is secretly following her, until Mikoto sense that someone is following her and that is her seatmate pigtail girl.
Mikoto: Hey pigtail girl! Why are you following me? Are you stalking me?!
Kuroko: Well I uh. (Why am I following her anyway?)
Mikoto: Give me a good reason for doing this!
Kuroko: I don't know. Maybe I just want to make sure that you're ok.
Mikoto: I told you, I don't need you! I can handle anything on my own.
Kuroko: Ok. I know soon you will be mine. (mumbles) (Wait. Do I like her now? But why?)
Mikoto: What did you said?!
Kuroko: (blushing) Nothing. See you tomorrow, my Sissy. (teleports away)
Mikoto: Her Sissy? Whatever.
Mikoto goes straight to her room for her to study, cause tomorrow is their preliminary tests. After an hour of studying, she fell asleep.
Meanwhile with Kuroko
Kuroko feels embarrassed of what she said earlier. She lay down on her bed and thinking about Mikoto.
Kuroko's Mind: Hey! What's wrong with me?! Why Mikoto Misaka is still in my mind right now?! I always thought that I hate her, cause she's so rude. (growls) I can't focus on my study. Come on Kuroko, focus!
Kuroko went outside her room and went to directory to look for Mikoto Misaka's room. And then she realized, what is her reason for knowing Mikoto's room anyway, she can get hurt if she tries to teleport to her room. So, she decided to get back to her room and take a rest.
Next day
Today is their preliminary tests, Mikoto and Kuroko are ready for the test. Kuroko is secretly staring at Mikoto during their test. While Mikoto knows all the questions, so she finnished the tests by only an hour. Kuroko is struggling because of what she feels for Mikoto.
Kuroko's Mind: Come on Kuroko, you can do it. Don't let your feelings distract you. You will become her friend after the result.
After 30 mins, Kuroko finally finnished the test.
Kuroko: Whew! I finally did it.
Uiharu: Hey Shirai.
Kuroko: Oh, Uiharu, what's up?
Uiharu: Since the preliminary tests are over, maybe we should hangout together.
Kuroko: Great idea. Where's Saten.
Saten: (Tries to surprise Kuroko) BOO!
Kuroko: Hey! You startled me.
Saten: Let's go now.
The three of them goes to the arcade and play together, until Kuroko see Mikoto is playing Punching Machine game. Kuroko walks close to Mikoto.
Kuroko: Can I play?
Mikoto: It's you pigtail girl! Are you here to stalk me wherever I go? (punches)
Kuroko: Well, Uiharu and Saten drag me here to have fun.
Mikoto: Is that so? Well, get ready for the tests results. I'm sure, I'm gonna win!
Kuroko: Ok.
Saten: (Appears behind them) Is that the reason why you didn't hangout with us for a week?
Kuroko: No. I uh.
Saten: (Pulls Kuroko's arm) Come here you little girl.
Kuroko: Hey!
Saten: Shirai, what is the meaning of this? She hurt you last time and you come get close to her? Are you a masochist?
Kuroko: Well, last time I see her unconscious, so I bring her to the clinic. I can't leave her alone cause I see her in pain right now, and she needs someone who supports her.
Saten: But she hit your stomach.
Kuroko: Yes. It's my fault actually, cause I tell something that I made her feel mad. (Ofcourse I lied)
Saten: Really? (curls up one of her eyebrows)
Kuroko: Yes.
Saten: Ok. Just make sure that she won't hit you again.
Kuroko: Ok.
Kuroko came back to where Mikoto plays but she did not see Mikoto at all. So, she goes back to Uiharu and Saten to play more games. After an hour, the girls left the arcade then Kuroko uses her ability to teleport the three of them to their dorm. The three of them appeared at the dorm lobby. As the three of them separates with each other, Kuroko hears someone's playing violin. She heard it at the dorm's rooftop. As she opens the door and she walks outside, she sees Mikoto's playing the violin. Kuroko is amazed by her relaxing harmony sound of what she's playing. Then she walks closer to her until Mikoto stops playing it.
Kuroko: Hey, why did you stop? That was amazing! I never knew you could play violin. You know what, you're talented.
Mikoto: I guess you're here to check on me again. Right?!
Kuroko: Actually, I heard the sound of the violin when I was at the door step of my room, so I follow the location of this sound until I saw you playing.
Mikoto: Oh is that it? Actually, my mom taught me how to play this instrument since when I was 4. I went through many competitions and I am the best violinist in the whole Tokyo before I came here in Academy City at the age of 7.
Kuroko: Wow! I must say, this is sentimental.
Mikoto: True. Actually, whenever I missed her, I'm always here at the dorm's rooftop to play.
Kuroko: (hugs Mikoto)
Mikoto: Hey! Let me go!
Kuroko: Sorry. (Letting go of Mikoto) I just feel your pain right now. You know what, my mom died due to car accident. When I remember that incident, I feel so sad and I really missed her.
Mikoto: I see.
Mikoto continues playing her violin and Kuroko is watching her until it gets dark.
