We had spent countless hours in the library searching from some kind of proof to show my parents of the whereabouts of my new home. We found nothing, I was begging to feel like it was hopeless. We decided to look one last time before we headed back to my home to help unload some of my furniture.
"Jessie, come quick I think I found something!" Seth shouted excitedly.
"What is it?" I asked as I ran in his direction.
"It's the newspaper from the day Mrs. Baker passed away."
"Oh my this is perfect, I can't wait to show my parents!" I shouted you could hear the excitement in my voice.
"What are you gonna do with it," Seth question as we left the library.
"I'm going to show my parents of course." I told him
"Why would you do that?" He asked "what if they make you move?"
"Don't worry about it Seth I will always be your friend, no matter where I am." I lied.
"Ok, you promise." Seth asked as we parked out bikes in the driveway.
"Yes, I'll see you tomorrow then." I really hoped I wouldn't.
Just then my mom shouted at us from outside.
"You kids are back just in time for lunch, why don't you boys wash up and come inside and eat." My mother called.
"Seth is not staying for lunch," I replied trying to hide the anger in my voice.
"Oh nonsense, the least you do is to invite Seth to lunch after biking around all day and him being kind enough you show you around." My mother insisted.
"Sorry Mrs. B but my mom is making her famous brunch, or I would stay." Seth called as he began to climb on his over grown bike.
"Ok, but tomorrow I insist that you have lunch with us." She called
"Will do, bye Jessie and bye Mrs. B." Seth called as we pulled away.
Jessie come get washed up for lunch. As I walked inside I felt a slight breeze at the door, probably just the wind I thought.
After I had washed up, I began to question my parents over what I had heard today.
"Where did you say we found this house?" I asked my parents
"Your aunt Cathy told us about the cheep price on this house and thought it would be a good home for us. Why do you ask?"
"I was just wondering. Seth was telling me about how Cathy's grandmother had passed away in this house where you guys aware of this?"
"I do believe we were, why what is the big deal?"
"Did you ever stop and think that maybe this house didn't sell because It was haunted!" I shouted as I slammed the newspaper down.
"Jessie, don't you dare speak to your mother that way you hear me!" My dad shot back
"I'm sorry, but may I be excused?" I said as I got up to clean my plate not waiting for an answer.
That night I couldn't sleep I just kept thinking about how I lashed out on my mother like that. I was just mad because I knew they were hiding something from me. I could tell what it was but I was going to find out. My mind continued to race with questions as I feel into a deep sleep.
