Movie's over.

This turned out a bit different than I anticipated. I get up and click the lock of my phone open, to see the time. I give Noah a quick hug and hurry out to the door.

I'm about to open it and rush away to my car when I feel his presence right behind me, unlocking the door. I was about to open a locked door. I'm really, distracted?

I awkwardly smile and begin to turn the doorknob when he presses his shoulder against the door and reaches his arm over his head, virtually preventing me from leaving.

"So, do I get to see you again?" he questions.

"Of course, Noah. We really need to figure something out to do other than watching a movie, because I can't be the only one who thought that was just the most awkward thing ever."

He laughs and nods. There's the boy I remember.

The way he lets his head back and flops his head forward to push it out of the way lets me flashback to the past. I really think this friendship will work.

"It's been absolutely forever Ashley," he says. Obviously, he doesn't want me to leave yet. And I don't want to leave yet. I take a step away from the door to let him know that I'm not going anywhere. My fingers trace the dark mahogany table besides me and my palms line the edge. I take a small jump, so that I'm sitting on the table. His house always felt just as much of a home as my house.

"I know, I don't even know why we stopped talking." I admitted. It was true, except I always couldn't help but notice he stopped telling his mom to text my mom about a 'date' between the two of us, when I got a boyfriend in fifth grade.

He interrupts my thoughts by quickly stating, "You got a boyfriend, remember?". He remembers.

"Noah, just because I got a boyfriend didn't mean you couldn't still be my best friend!" I loudly exclaim. "We were totally inseparable, and then all of a sudden you just start to ignore me! That was so sad, I mean, I cried all the time over you!"

He doesn't say a word.

"I'm serious, Noah. That guy ended up breaking up with me because I'd always be trying to talk to you," I said.

He started to smile a little bit.

"I liked you. Duh."

Oh.

I'm dumb.
