I don't think I'll make it home with all the sweating and achy limbs. "It wouldn't be so bad if you'd just hold the chicken a little closer." My evil subconscious said. I finally make it home, as I walk through the gates I see my brother sitting on a rock under the tree. He rushes over to me and takes the chicken out of my hand just as I fall unconscious from all the fear and exhaustion.
I open my eyes and I'm met with my brother's face, he doesn't look too happy. "Are you trying to kill yourself? Why didn't you ask me to go and buy the chicken for you?" I try to get up from the uncomfortable ground I'm lying on, and it feels like all the blood rushed to my head because my head was pounding so bad."here have this" he hands me a class of water and I take a huge galp only to spit it out immediately " what is this?" I turn to look at him and I see a little smirk on his lips. "That my dear sister is medication for your headache, now drink up before I force it down your throat." I take small sips of the bitter substance and put the glass down when I'm done. "Why did you do it?" I look at him and I see that all the playfulness is gone and he now has a stoic expression. " I wanted to do something special for your birthday" I say with a smile. He chuckles and look away. " go cook the chicken then miss special, I'm starving" he hands me a bowl with chicken pieces. "Thanks for the meds, I feel better already" he smiles and I get up to go cook.
".....and then she fainted" the whole table was in tears from laughing so hard. "Stop making fun of my efforts " they laughed even more. " Aunty can I have more soup please?" Asked my 5 year old nephew with a toothless grin. "Ofcourse baby" I dish up for him for the third time now. "Don't spill on the floor" he doesn't even listen to me and runs to go and join the rest of the creche. " Vee please help me with the dishes" she gives me a mischievous look and I know she's about to say something stupid "sure fainty" oh great now I'm going to be the joke of the week.
After the dishes I took the kids to bed and then went to say goodnight to my brother." Goodnight robot" he gives me a little smile and says " I took the offer" I felt my heart drop to my stomach "why? You can't leave me alone in this house, you know they'll turn me into a slave if you leave" I said with teary eyes. "Go to sleep we will talk in the morning before I leave"
I got to my room and found the little boy sleeping peacefully on my bed " I think it's time we left this place too" I say to no one and give my nephew a kiss before I get into bed and face my demons.
