After spending hours in traffic, I had finally arrived at the club. I parked in a designated employee spot and practically ran into the back entrance of the club. On my way here I noticed the long line that was present at the front entrance. I internally prayed Amelie or my manager for the night would not be angry enough to fire me. I knew that we had standards to upkeep and being on time was part of a smooth running business.
Once I had entered the club, I made my way to the employee room where we would leave our things and clock in. I noticed that there no was no one else in there except a few individuals getting ready to go out onto the floor.
As I walked out, I instantly ran into Amelie. Her blonde bob reached just above her shoulders, and she wore a grey pant suit and bright red heels. Her deep blue eyes stared at me, waiting for a response. She had a face that just radiated knowledge and power.
"Hi Amelie. I'm so sorry I arrived late, I know that I was supposed to arrive earlier and if this is grounds for you to fire me then --" she cut me off with a wave of her hand.
"Listen, Leah. I understand that you are a college student attempting to make something of yourself," she sighs, "You know, I'm not ignorant to the fact that it's difficult to go to school and be able to make a living at the same time. So, I will overlook that you arrived late, but next time please just let me or your shift lead know if you will be arriving late."
I nodded my head and felt myself let out a breath, incredibly surprised with how kind she was being.
"Thank you so much, Amelie. I swear I will not let this happen again, but on the off chance it does I will be sure to let you know," I gratefully thanked her. This job meant so much to me, and I knew no one else would pay me as well as I made here.
"Do not worry. Like I said, just keep me in the loop of what is going on. Now, I also wanted to let you know that I have assigned you to Alexander Reign tonight. We are looking to do more business with him in all of our locations." My mouth dropped open. Amelie only ever assigns us to prime investors when she is looking to promote us.
"Understood! I will be sure to make sure I am attentive to him and any questions he has," I replied, astonished.
"Good. Now, as you know this is an investor we have been looking at making connections with for quite some time. Depending on how tonight goes, there may be an important opportunity waiting for you. Please do not make me regret this, Leah." Amelie said sternly. Her face held a straight faced look, but I knew that she held a hint of pride when she spoke to me. Just like when she hired me, it's as though she saw something in me that I still had to figure out.
"I completely understand. I will not let you down, I swear." I gave her a big smile. I felt absolutely lucky at the opportunity she was granting me.
She nodded and told me to begin getting the VIP room ready for Mr. Reign and his guests. I made my way up the spiral staircase to the room that was his. The room was definitely one of our best rooms and looked very classy and tasteful. I prepared it by preparing the inclusive hookah and bottle service. Once that was ready, I made sure that we had security and two other girls.
Alexander Reign owned one of the world's biggest multimillion dollar companies focused in the entertainment industry. He spoke to only the highest paid musicians, actors, and businessmen. Having him come out to the club had been in the works for almost a year. I knew that Amelie would not be happy if this investment fell through.
The other two girls I was working with tonight, Jasmine and Annie, had both been working here for about two years now. They had previously worked with investors, so I knew that they would be able to help me if I had any questions.
