Martha's Vineyard is an island known for being an affluent summer colony. But, what most don't know is what happens in the cold and quiet off-season of this small town, Vineyard Haven. Bradley Barnes was a 10-year-old child. He lived in a big but old and creaky house on Dagget Avenue. His mother, Jen Dakota, is downstairs drinking her morning coffee. "TIME TO WAKE UP BRADLEY!" "YOUR GOING TO BE LATE FOR SCHOOL!" Bradley wakes up, and gets up out of bed. He rushes to grab clothes for the daily school. He jumps into the shower and out into the dining room, dressed. Now in the dining room, Bradley had black, short hair. The stylist cut it in a straight, pixie style with choppy layers. He was 4'5", weighing about 70 pounds, wearing a grey T-shirt under a black hooded jacket with navy blue shorts. Jen was 5'8", wearing a dark red turtleneck sweater with jeans, and had black long hair. "Let's go; you'll miss the bus!" Jen said. "I know, I know," Bradley said, while munching on his bacon. "I've still got a few more minutes." "Are you excited for Halloween?" Jen asked. Bradley replied, "You know I am, do you even have to ask?" He takes a gulp of orange juice as he finishes his meal. He soon brushes his teeth and grabs his backpack and runs to the bus stop. The stop was about a minute walk for he had to walk up the street and cross to the other side for the bus. He waited hoping that the bus would never come so he could skip school for the day. He gazes at a puddle from the downpour that had gone off last night. He seemed to notice that something was a bit off but he was always known for being weird on such things. The bus then arrives and hits the puddles that splash all over Bradley. "Aww, heck! You've got to be kidding me." Bradley wails out. "Let's go; I haven't got all day!" The bus driver yells out to him. Bradley hops in the bus soaking wet. Looking around for a seat as everyone looks at him weird giving the vibe that they don't want him to sit with them. He finds a seat alone in the back and keeps to himself, looking out the window in the dark and gloomy morning. As the bus was taking its route, Bradley's mind seemed to drift away. He seems to notice the air around him turned cold and he could see his own breath. He also noticed that everything seemed grey and ominous, as if it was in a whole different world, like his but murky. He looked around the rest of the bus and no one was in sight. He sprinted out of the bus since it seemed to have stopped and no one was in sight like the whole island was empty. "What the heck is going on?" He whispered to himself. He walked outside hoping to find some answers to what had happened. Then Bradley had the coldest, tingly shiver down his spine. He was staring at something in the shadows. He knew something was staring back at him. It was unknown and surreal. The stare was so intense. "BRADLEY!" Erin yelled out. "Come on, let's go or we'll be late for class." Erin was 4'1" wore a black plain shirt with a white unzipped fleece jacket over it and black pants. Erin was one of Bradley's closest friends, she knew him as much as she knew the inside and out of any comic book. Bradley was no longer outside of the bus, he was now back in his seat confused of what had happened. Erin calling out to him had made him jump out of his seat. "You okay?" Erin asked. "You seem more jumpy than usual." "Yea, a weird dream I had." Bradley replied pushing off what happened as a dream. "Let's get to class." Said Erin as they start to walk to class.
